Vomited... should I be worried?
 

Duke vomited today when I was at work. My boyfriend called me to tell me about it and to whine that he had to clean it up. :) Well, my boyfriend was sharing his food with him, yet again. He was giving him chicken nuggets, Wal*Mart brand, that are highly seasoned. He said he had given him about four (little balls) when he went into his carrier and acted like he wasn't feeling well. Then, of course, he threw up. My boyfriend said he tried to get more chicken from him after that and has been acting normally all evening. I just figure it was the food and that's that... but, he's given it to him before and Duke has been fine. Duke has also been breathing a little heavy, maybe a slight snore, that he didn't have before. He's not been sneezing or reverse sneezing, and I actually took my stethoscope and my ear and he didn't seem to be wheezing any. He's still very playful, eating well, pees and poos fine... my boyfriend tells me I'm just worrying too much. I am just afraid something is going to happen to him and I'll lose him and it will be my fault. I am trying to get him a vet. appointment for a check-up soon... just having a lot of conflict with the days they can take him and it being a busy time in school as the semester is wrapping up. All right, so off subject. :) Just any opinion would be great.

Just a word of caution...You really shouldn't be feeding him people food...ESPECIALLY chicken nuggets! They can end up with pancreatitis...you really don't want this to happen as it is painfull for the dog and can get very costly at the vets...Someone had posted "people" food that is good for our furbabies....and foods that can be dangerous for them...I would tell BF to stop feeding him people food...I know it's hard to NOT give them food from the table especially when they look up at you with their little black eyes and cute little face but, for the health of furbaby I would only stick to the foods that are good for him

Seriously, never feed your baby people food, unless it's plain boiled unseasoned chicken or white rice with nothing on it. I know that there are some fruits and veggies that it's okay for them to have, like green beans, apple, carrots, pears, etc. NO citrus, it's too harsh on their tummies. Too much salt and fat can shorten their lives a whole lot, and I know you want to have your darling for as long as possible.

Tell your BF to cut it out, I know that they're expert little beggars, but you must do what's best for them, as they don't know that:)

I hope that Duke has no more vomiting, poor baby!

If he only vomited once, I would just continue to watch him like you are doing. I bet he will be ok. Just chalk this one up to lesson learned:)

PLEASE PLEASE do not feed any people food other than the above! Search pancreatitis on this forum, read all and learn now before it is too late! STOP anyone from feeding your baby things they are not supposed to have! I learned the very hard way and lost my "Precious" at 6 1/2 years old. I am having a xmas party soon and just finished making a sign to post above the food table for no-one to give my 8 babies any of their food! People don't realize they can kill furkids by what they give them to eat! I didn't know either and believe me I will never get over the loss of my baby!

I never said I feed people food, he sneaks and does it. I've told him and sent many articles on it to him as well as his family, but they don't listen. I was at work and that is why he was able to get away with it. I'll have him read your replies though because maybe he will realize it's not just me. He told me this morning that they were "kinda burnt," which I'm now sure is why it upset his tummy so much. I think that now that he realizes Duke will get sick and will throw up from eating people food, esp. processed food, that he will cut it out.

Awww, I know he's just wanting to spoil the baby. I hope you can get the point across to him without hurting his feelings. He just doesn't realize that giving him people food has long-term effects.

How is Duke now, all better I hope?!

That's an awesome idea about the sign above the food table:thumbup: You should post that in it's own thread so everyone can do that during the holiday season, it might save someone's baby's life!. I know I'd busted my kids' friends feeding Starr hot dogs and stuff like that and I had to scream at them, they just didn't want to listen and acted like it wasn't a big deal:rolleyes: Teens, ugh! Makes me want to put a big sign on the front door and make them sign it to say they read it and understand:P

It doesn't matter WHO feeds him the people food....Just isn't good for them...your boyfriend and his family need to realize that this is very bad for our furbabies....a puppy with pancreatitis isn't a happy puppy........at all!

Tell your boyfriend and family that when the pup gets sick they can pay the bill..

Please do not disregard the above warnings - pancreatitis can lead to death and having your baby in the hospital on ivs. If your boyfriend doesn't care about your dog's health, maybe you can explain that treatment for pancreatitis can be well over a $1,000.00 and he will be paying the bills!

Yeah, I told him it would cost thousands to save his little, but very precious, life if anything happened to him. He loves him very much and just gives in to his begging! I think he is getting it though as I made him read everything you guys said! His father actually fed him an entire hamburger patty and hot dog once, ugh! I was like, he's a little dog... that's more than I would eat! He's fine though... my boyfriend said as soon as he threw up he was back to his normal self, but since I've had him he threw up only once before and that was when I dropped a piece of dried beef (extremely salty!) on the ground by accident and when he gets food I drop, I don't think he even swallows because he knows he is not suppose to have it! He has such an evil growl! One time he got ahold of an m&m cookie with creme in the middle (little girl I babysat for wanted to share)... wow, he acted like he was possessed! We got it away from him though before he ate it because it was still in a wax paper bag. Thanks for your concern. I think he's just fine now and I won't be giving him human food, besides boiled chicken which I make for him often, and neither will my boyfriend.
