enlarged lymph nodes? WORRIED! Hello, This is my first post and I am so desperate for advice… My little 8 mo. old girl went to get spayed a week ago and the Dr. noticed a bump (she believed it was a hernia) and called me for permission to look at it while Inari was already “out”. It was in the groin area, just slightly lower than her incision for the spay. She removed some “tissue” that she believed may have been testicular (meaning Inari would have been a hermaphrodite) and sent it off for a biopsy just to be sure. The results came back as NOT being testicular, but lymph node tissue. I only know the results, and have not talked to the Dr. personally. She wasn’t in at the time, but should be calling me tomorrow. I have many questions for her, but in the mean time am looking for someone with any knowledge of this type of situation. I would think that if it was lymphoma that would have come back in the biopsy… and no mention of cancer was made. And if the lymph node was swollen enough to be noticed during the spay, what could be causing it if the pre-surgery blood work was normal? How would we find the infection? I’m afraid it might be cancer and the secretary that told me the lab results was just waiting for the Doctor to call me and tell me that herself. I know this is a strange situation, and I am a young first time dog owner just looking for some information or advice. Thank you so much! Sara |
Sorry I don't know anything, I just wanted to wish you and your baby well! I hope they don't keep you waiting too long for that call. Hugs! Tracy and Luna  |
I wouldn't know either. However, I wouldn't wait for the vet to a phone call. I would just be a pest and call until I had some answers. I will watch for an update and hope that everything is good. |
puppy Please try to relax...hernia's in the groin are not uncommon in Yorkies..it has been repaired and will cause no more trouble as a rule....and cancer in an 8 month old is unheard of... You really need to find a vet who knows the breed very, very well. I know we think these guys are special, but seriously, Yorkies are not like any other toy...their hearts can be larger in size and that is perfectly normal..so many normal conditions are treated as serious by unknowing vets..just telling you this for the future. best wishes.. |
I don't think I would panic just yet - wait and see what the vet says. It sounds like she is being very thorough. I had one puppy at about 9 weeks that had a swollen gland and I suspected an inguinal hernia, but within a week it subsided on its own without any antibiotics or anything. I actually didn't take her in to the vet because I assumed it was a hernia. Since I had never noticed it before most likely it was just a swollen gland though. |
update thanks for the replys...i talked to the vet. She said that anything serious would have come back in the biopsy results, and there was no cancer, infection, bacteria...etc...**PHEW** So its still a mystery, but at least whatever made that lymph node angry is nothing serious. Thanks for your encouragement! <3 |
