Does Anyone Know How To Treat A Yorkie For A Cold Hi, My 15 Month Old Yorkie I Think Has A Little Cold. He Is Sniffing A Bit And A Few Sneezes. Does He Have To Go To The Vet Or Can I Treat Him At Home With Some Thing? Thanks Elle57 |
hmm good question i'm interested in knowing also. |
me three |
I have used Benadryl in the past for skin allergies, don't see why it wouldn't help with sinus problems. However, if the mucous has a color to it, you need to see your vet. As with children, that means infection. |
romeo had a cold a couple years ago. he needed antibiotics.:( |
If he is feeling fine, eating well and doesn't have a cough, or fever (normal anal temp is 101 to 102.5) I think you could just watch him for a few days. It may be more of an allergy than a cold. If the symptoms get any worse or he develops a cough or fever or stops eating then he may need antibiotics so a vet appointment is necesssary. |
when henry got a cold the doctor prescribed an antibiotic and benydryl...(the benydryl was nice because he slept in until 9 for a couple days!) |
Mine had that a couple of weeks ago. We actually made a trip to the vet because I was so worried. Vet sent me home with nothing. Just asked me to keep him in the house and keep him warm and dab tissue on his nose once a while and put some petroleum jelly on his nose. He said it will take 2-4 weeks. |
How is your little boy today? Any improvement? |

He is 100% okay now :) I was worried and called the vet a few times after the visit but he is right!!! And all the while I was thinking he doesn't know what he was saying  He sounds scary so I was really worried but my vet says if I take good care of him, keep him warm and don't bring him out, he probably won't get a 2nd degree infection such as pneumonia and he will be okay but do go to the vet FIRST. You never know what it is but a vet will.My vet did not recommend me giving him anything. He says it is better not to give them medication unless it is really neccessary and give it some time. |
Ralphie is being treated for a cold right now.. antibiotic and keep those windows closed! I just told the vet he had an upper respiratory infection, and they gave me the medicine without a vet vist. $26.00 |
