It depends on the type & size of the hernia. My breeder warned me that my puppy might have an inguinal hernia 2 days before I received her and said that it would only cost $50 to have it fixed. Unfortunately, it's not that simple nor cheap. I had it done when she got spayed last week and poor thing is only 4.8 lbs and has a 4 inch incision from her spay to her hernia. It turns out that she had 2 small ones that could potentially give her troubles later. The total cost (including spay) was about $400 (so $245 for the hernia alone). Just keep a close eye on it and try to have it all done at once. |
how much did that cost to you? Please helppppp Quote:
I will tell why.... I've sold a puppy saing that she has a inguinal hernia in the contract, that the buyer is aware of this and the cost is 500$ total for the puppy. Now she called me saying that she has an appt with a specialist that the appt cost 500$, and the operation costs from 800 to 1200 $ ???? I told her my vet charges around 350$ and only 150$ extra at spaying time, but she was saying that my vet it is not a specialist(that she won't do such a good job and if not the puppy can die) and that she wants another reduced price for 250$??? and she confuses me because she says that her daugther fell in love with the puppy but if I don't relower the price more she can go and buy a healthy puppy somewhere else. So can anyone suggest what should I do in this case? I want my puppy back now, I miss her so much, and for the price, I want her even more. |
Hernia OK I should have searched before I made a thread! I am having the same problem, my breeder told me about a lump my baby had on her lower abdomen and that it would pop up and go away. Personally I never saw it, but my breeder told me she brought my baby to her Vet prior and that the Vet told her the lump (that goes away and comes back) was most likely a "fat pocket" and that this can be common in Yorkie puppies?? But that he did NOT think it was a health concern. But when I have her spayed if a hernia is found they can remove it at that time. I am all for removing a hernia(if that is what it is) of course, that is not a problem. The only thing I am skeptical of is this "fat pocket" that my breeder is claiming it "could" be. What does everyone think? Ever heard of such a thing?:rolleyes:Or is my breeder just not wanting to fess up that it is in fact a hernia? Hmmmm.... |
I paid $1800 for hernia repair-- Last spring, a male puppy developed a scrotal hernia at 5 weeks of age. We waited until he was about 12 weeks to repair it and the cost was almost $1800, including neutering. I've been told this is a much more comlicated and dangerous condition than an umbilical hernia. |
