Denoid Lupus Has anyone heard of this or dealt with this? Our little boy had 3 little pumps on the inside of his right eyelid. Now, on his nose the skin looks raw. Took him to the vet and he did a biopsy today to see if it was Denoid Lupis. I haven't been able to find out much about this on the internet. We won't get the results back until Monday. We thought it was an allergy. Any information would be appreciated. |
I'm sorry. I've never heard of it. Hopefully someone can give you some information soon. Also, sending prayers up for your baby. |
lupus Discoid Lupus effects the face and nose I am told..and it can be controlled with applications of oinments known to control the outbreaks...but as a rule the toy breeds are not as prone to lupus as the GSD and other larger breeds..wait for the biopsy..see a dermo vet if there a question...see one anyway IMO. |
Thanks for the response and for correcting my spelling. We don't have a dermo vet where we live but will see if I can locate one nearby. He looks terrible tonight but seems to be feeling better. So, I'm hoping this is not the problem. The only reference I could find on this said larger breeds tend to have this. Keep our little Bo in your prayers. He is only a year old and 3 lbs 8 oz. He is my husbands dog. I took him to the vet since my husband had been home in bed for the past 2 days due to his asthma. Sure hated to have to tell him this news. Stressful situations can trigger an asthma attack and I knew this was going to be upsetting for him. |
I will pray for your baby. I too have Discoid Lupus and I treat with cortizone ointment. I am pretty sure they would use something of that nature on pets also. If it affects pets like it affects Humans, your baby should be fine. Dont let him get any sun in the face. Good luck! |
I agree - it's "discoid lupus" -- a form of lupus that affects the skin and not any organs of the body...... which means that it is far less serious than many other types of lupus. Good luck - Carol Jean |
Good news Vet called today. Bo does not have discoid lupus. It's an allergy. We take him back on Friday to have the two stitches removed and then try to figure out what he is allergic to. The spot on his nose has completely gone and he seems much better. Not crying and scratching. Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes. It is greatly appreciated. |
