Wheezing/gagging... Just purchased a 1 yr old yorkie and took him to the vet to have him neutered. Approx 3 days after he was home he started acting like he was wheezing or trying to vomit but never did. It's not constantly but several times a day. Any suggestions? Going to call the vet tomorrow, but thought i would check with you. New at this. Will post a picture of my puppy shortly. Thanks for any info you can provide. |
Oh no, hopefully he will feel better soon. This sounds a little like my yorkie Pete, he has a collapsing trachea that we started noticing when he was around 6 months old. It kind of sounds like a long time smoker cough that turns into a gag. Pete usually only does this after he has been playing really hard and sprinting around, then we calmly settle him down so the episode can pass. I have heard of some dogs showing symptoms like this after surgery but Im not sure if it will go away on its own. Im not too familiar with other things such as kennel cough and other respiratory problems so I could be completely off. :getwell: |
Thank you Thank you for the information. He had a rough night. I am going to take him to the Vets this morning. I've never had a dog do this before and I've only had him for a little over a week and I'm a bit nervous. I feel helpless when he has his "episodes". I'll let everyone know what I find out today. Thanks again. |
IIt could be kennel cough too |
Thank you Vet seems to think it's Kennel Cough also. Have some antibiotics and hopefully he'll start feeling bette soon! Actually, he is very active and playful, other than two or three times a day gets that UGLY cough/wheezing thing going. Thanks for the replies. p.s. Trying to figure out how to post his picture... |
