Swollen Paw!!!! My Yorkie seems to have a swollen paw. she is not walking on it... she is not yelpig in pain and she seems fine other wise. I checked her paw and its pretty swollen and now im scared. i have some Betagen in my home, do you think i could use this? |
Going to the vet with her is the better thing to do . |
Yes. You should take her to the vet. Could she have stepped on a bee in the grass? That has happened to me before. Let us know how she's doing. |
This happened to my cat once.........it was a spider bite. Not to say that is what is wrong with your furball...........better get it checked out. Good luck |
I would carefully examine the paw with a magnifying glass if you have one to look for any injuries. Soaking the paw in epsom salt and water would be good if its just a sprain. If you think it could be a spider, ant, bee bite I would make a paste out of baking soda and cold water; or meat tenderizer and water; or a wet tea bag (black tea is best) to draw out and neutralize any poisons. You could also give children's liquid benadryl - up to 2mg per pound every 8 hours. |
How is your baby's paw? Please give us an update when you get a minute. |
the vet said it was TRICKY KNEE...she is still limping |
By trick knee, do you mean luxating patella where the knee slips out of joint? I have never had a Yorkie with a luxating patella, but it is common, but don't think I've ever heard anyone mentioning their paw swelling because of it. Did the vet give you any anti-inflammatories or anything? |
my parents shih tzu has a trick knee and she barely limped it would just move out of place i guess |
Yes it is the luxating patella where the knee slips out of joint, I think the swelling was due to the fact that she also has allergies.the vet did give me anti-inflammatories and i have a check up in 1 week. I feel so bad for my baby.. she is 3 years old and this never happened to her b4. Is there anything i can do besides just giving her the anti-flammatories and benadryl for her allergie??? any suggestions??? |
