Breathing Problems at Night I am not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but ever since I brought Sophie home 2 weeks ago she sounds like she has raspy lungs when I put her in her crate at night to sleep. Her crate is quite comfy an cozy furnished with a pink fleece blanket and her zanies teddy bear blanket. It sounds like she has flem from somewhere that settles in her lungs. She is fine throughout the day runnin around like a good 4 month old. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated. My vet charges a 31 dollar exam fee, and if I have to I will take her in, but if I don't need to worry about it I won't. Thanks! |
I think I would take her in to be on the safe side. My vet her charges 47 for an office call, I hope Sophie is OK. |
Just wanted to "bump" and see if anyone had suggestions! |
Hi there, Did you take her in for an initial check-up when you first got her? I would definitely take her in, just in case. Maybe she got a cold or some kind of infection and it's just better to be safe than sorry. Good luck and keep us posted. ~Anita Quote:

I did take her in the day after I picked her up, but at that point I wasn't really aware of her breathing issue. It is so weird though, because she only does it at night, and really only when she is in her carrier. Last night I kept pulling her out of her crate because I was worried. I had her in bed with me and she actually had to sit up and cough to clear her lungs, scary. But she is so normal the rest of the time. She was being treated for Coccidia and Giardia, and I wonder if her bug didn't travel up into her lungs. I read somewhere on her that can happen. Anyway, she is passed out on my lap and isn't makng a sound. She goes in for rabies shots on the 9th, so I will mention it then. Thanks!:) |
Hi Sofie's Mom, I took my 9yr Buffy to the vet about a month ago for a cough she had one Sunday night, next day I took her in. They took x rays of her chest and the doctor showed me her x rays, there was a white cloud like on the upper left side of her chest. It was an infection, he send her home with antibiotics and two wks after he did x rays again and it was gone. TG for that! This ended up costing me about 400.00, but had I waited it would have spread and her illness and recovery would have been more serious and a lot more costly. When I'm not sure of anything I call my vet's office and ask, there is no charge for that. If your baby is sick they should not give her her shots until she is well. I also have a 10 month yorkie boy and he sleeps very quiet not even a snore (yet...lol). Come back and give us an update, good luck! |
