Zoey has luxating patellas grade 4 My husband took me to a friends house to see her new baby yorkie. He told me the breeder didn't want the mother of the baby anymore. She can be mine if I want her. I have a boy yorkie his name is toby. When I brought the girl home I found out from the vet. that she has luxating patellas grade 4. The vet said he was really disappointed at the breeder that she let her have another litter. I want to help her but alot of the things I read on luxating patellas say they can live with this without having surgery. I don't know If she's in pain. She don't seem to be but she does lay around alot. Zoey's back is bent too so I don't know if she has Arthritis.:( |
grrrr That's pretty sad. Sorry breeder too that would continue breeding her with her knees so bad. Did you vet recommend surgery? Every thing that I have read, 4 is pretty bad and surgery need to be done. |
Aww If you can afford the surgery if she needs it it would be nice to take her away from someone who isn't interested in her well being. |
Grade 4 knees require surgery.....they're quite painful. |
What's going on with ALL these LP cases??? Shame on all breeders that do not do a careful screening before breeding dogs! |
I agree - Grade 4 is "severe" - and requires surgery. And, yes, this condition is painful. Sorry! Carol Jean |
Poor baby...I hope you can help her out..sounds like she needs a good loving mommy..good luck to you.. Dawn |
Not only is the condition itself extremely painful, but it will cause severe arthritis which will compound the pain, and ultimately probably shorten the poor pups life. I have been through 2 LP surgeries and know it is hard, but the surgery on LP that severe is the only way to go! |
I believe that if she is not showing any pain then you should not do any surgery on her. I guess if she would be in pain she would be lame. Is she walking with three legs? Quote:
