We are waiting on test results. However he has a fever and I need to know what to give him. He weighs 6.1 lbs,,, please advise!! |
How high is his temperature? |
it was 104 at the vet... I haven't taken it they kept him all day and now he is home. We go back in the morning can I give him a quarter of a baby aspirin? |
Awe, I hope he is feeling better soon. Please let us know. My boy's name is Cowboy also. |
Sorry, I was checking to see if aspirin is okay to give if they do have Valley fever. Just online - but I did find this... Hepatotoxic medication as well as aspirin and NSAIDs should be avoided during the acute disease. http://www.itg.be/itg/DistanceLearni...ovirusesp5.htm The best person to ask would be your vet. Sorry I couldn't be more help. |
thanks... I will use a luke warm cloth tonight.. I have to be back at the vet tomorrow... It will be another long night... but at least he is resting now |
MyLoveForCowboy -- Please check with your vet (or any vet) about giving your little dog medicine -- not YT..... I'm just afraid that you might get advise that would tell you to do the opposite of what you should do. I have seen conflicting advise given many times - here on YT -- I hope your little guy gets better soon.... Carol Jean |
I have never seen a recommendation of aspirin for fever in a dog. The only thing I have been told is to treat the infection with appropriate meds and use a cool compress on the stomach or a tepid bath and to make sure they are drinking plenty of water. Here's a good link to valley fever. http://www.nndda.org/CanineCocci.pdf#search='fever%20treatment%20dog' |
I'm so sorry your baby is not feeling well. I remember my Gus got a fever after getting shots. I called the vet and he said to give him baby tylenol. I don't remember how much the vet to give him. At the time Gus only wieghed like 1.8 bls but it did work. I would call your local vet before giving your baby anything. Best of luck to you and I hope your feels better real soon! |
We went to the vet again today.. yes he does have valley fever. We dealt with the temp last night with a luke warm cloth and lots of attention to water. He is on the meds now... just say a prayer.... |
