I was checking in on Lola too. Hope everything went fine. |
Our Prayers and Lots of Love go out to you and Lola. |
Hi all... Thanks for all your prayers, concerns and good wishes... Lola made it through just FINE. I was able to pick her up early and I brought her with me to work so she wouldn't be alone. She was a little weak and whiny (but I don't know if it was pain or stomach-ache because she went home and had diarrhea) but dozed on and off through the rest of the evening. She would sit up occassionally in a daze. prolly the meds. She was always a good eater, so she wanted food more than she wanted water! (She is slightly overweight-haha :D ) This morning she woke me up with growls and barks. I guess being a conehead makes her more antsy with noises she hears. She's so cute... 1 day out of surgery and already wanting to protect her mama. The doc says pain meds every 8 hrs as needed. I gave her one dose last night and again this morning... she makes this heavy breathing, barely there whine that I think equates pain. But more or less, she's back to her old self. She keeps trying to look or lick at the incision, but can't, due to the cone. So she gets frustrated and tries to shake, scoot, and wriggle out of it.. :( poor thing'll have that thing for another week. Thanks Peeka, Maddie, and Roxy for your doggy love, and all the mommys out there who understand!!!!:D Wouldn't have been the same without yall.... :) |
So glad all went well. Those cones must be so frustrating. Prayers for quick and successful recovery. |
I am so glad your little one is much better. IF any one is interested in not using the cones you can order a no bite collar that works great. They can get around a lot better. Or you can make like a cervical collar to put around their necks and they can't lick or chew at themselves. I have become a pro at making them. I am so happy to hear your little love is running around and being herself. Val |
oh noo.... I guess recovery's not as easy as I thought. She was crying and very skittish all day yesterday (dunno if the pain meds helped at all) She'd run here or run there, and always always sit down in a way that leaves her belly exposed, like she's trying to get at it. :( She's acting really nervous and scared, not really herself. Then today, day 2 after surgery she was really shaky. I gave her meds and made her bed really big so she could walk around on something soft (I have hardwood floors) And she hasn't pooped yet! She pooped the day of surgery but all day yesterday-nothing... and today, not yet... I gave her some olive oil to put into her food, so we'll see....:( |
I hope things get better for your little one. |
Thanks for letting us know how she's doing! I been checking back on this thread, hoping to hear! |
ok... doc says the shaking may have been a reaction to pain medication. Lola is 95% back to normal now... Her incision areas look MUCH better. I think they should give you a checklist of what might happen and how they might react to anything when they send her home after the surgery... it was kind of scary to wing it alone. Her poops are back to normal too... so that's good news!! :D |
Thanks for keeping us posted. Glad she's doing better today.:) I often think we leave the doctors/vets/etc with less information than they should have given us! |
