Has your dog ever had... Tapeworms? I am certain this is what Chloe has b/c I seen on in her poop a minute ago! I called the vet and they told me to come by tues (b/c that is when the office opens back up) and get a pill that she can take to get rid of them. I feel like a bad mom to her b/c she got these! Are they easy for us to get them too? Thanks for any info! |
oh no. i hope she gets better soon. |
They are not passable to humans. The only way for a human to get one is by eating a flea (which is what your dog dig). Control the fleas and you will control the tapeworms. They really don't cause that many problems in dogs so waiting until Tuesday should be fine. |
Don't feel bad about the tapeworms. They get them from injesting fleas. So somewhere along the line Chloe swallowed a flea. Tapeworms have a complicated life cycle -- the pill from the vet should take care of them. I always got grossed out 'case the segments look like rice..... Like who wants chicken and rice soup after...... never mind.:D |
Gross!!!! I definitely won't be eating any rice anytime soon! LOL |

Don't feel like a bad mom, she must of ingested a flea that carried it. It can happen. If she's on heartworm meds, unfortunately it's the only worm it doesn't take care of. The med the vet gives you will take care of. No, you can't get them from sleeping with your dog. But, do wash all her bedding. |
My cats have had them before. I ordered the pill online just to try(they are alot cheaper than a vet visit) and they worked fine. I gave him a double dose. If you read the post someone put on about the difference in giving a cat a pill and a dog a pill you'd understand why.:D I did get enough in him to get rid of the worm.:) Good luck. |
don't worry she will be fine after you have seen the vets, you are not a bad mama, these things just happen :) |
