Both My Yorkies Are Sick Hello, I'm new to the board. Both of my Yorkies have diaherra for 4 days, vomited about twice each, & have been eating grass. The vet gave us some medicine to address the symptoms & has stated AGAIN that the dogs probably ate something they shouldn't have. I feel like my dogs are always getting sick. Is it strange to worry that theres more than "an upset stomach". They've previously both had x-rays, exams, stool samples, etc......I am just really really worried for them. |

All the exams came back negative? I know Timmy had the same symptoms when he first came home and he had collitis. He took Albon for 10 days and then he was fine. Maybe your babies have a virus and it needs to run its course. I hope your babies get better soon. |
If it's been 4 days and your vet hasn't done much about it I would be considering a new vet. I hope your babies :getwellso |
Welcome To Yt So sorry your yorkies are having this problem, have you cooked white rice and gave them some for the diareaha? Be sure that they don't get dehydrated. What age are they and have you had them very long? Patti |
how old are they? at what point did they see the vet? If they don't improve, i think i would take them back in to see him. are they eating normally? drinking? playing? welcome to YT, by the way. when mine get sick it makes me feel worse than they do. |
2 little ones sick My babies are brother & sister (different litters) ages 1 & 2. They are acting very normal besides the diaherra. The medicine helped a little, but the more I worry, the more I'm able to find symptoms on the internet to worry me even more. If they don't seem better by noon today I'm taking them both back in. |
I believe I read in another post to feed them canned pumpkin for diarrhea. The white rice thing also helps. Good luck! Hope your babies are better soon. |
Welcome! I am so sorry to hear your babies are sick. The most important thing is to make sure they drink plenty of liquid to keep them hydrated. The rice with a little chicken broth usually encourages them to eat. I use fresh chicken and the broth it was boiled in. Some canned broth contain spices and preservatives ... better safe than sorry. Also, our vet always recommends the plain canned pumpkin for hard stool rather than diarrhea. Good luck and please keep us updated. |
Four days with diahrea is too long. The meds should be working by now unless there is something else wrong. I would take them to the vet |

I would put them on boiled chicken (easily digested) and rice (firms up the stools) until it clears. I would also give Pedialyte to restore the electrolyte balance. How many times a day are they having bowel movements? Is there any blood? Did the vet give an antibiotic or anti-diarrheal medicine? |
How are those babies doing now? Hope they are all better. |
Hope everything is alright..........best wishes to you all |
