Cause by vaccines?? So my mom was playing with Coco and she was like "Nobie there is a lump on her shoulder" Of course I tried to stay calm and feel for it. It felt like a little itty bitty lump underneath her skin. So I tried not to freak and I called her vets and they said that is where they gave her the rabies and her parvo shot. They said not to worry that is totally normal to get a little bump there. Has anyone else ever had this happen before, where they get a bump from the vaccines? I'm not too worried, cause my vet is amazing but just curious. It doesn't hurt her at all. |
I think so... Gizmo went to the vets several times this past week and had a new parvo shot taken (because of Madda's condition) and I didn't want to risk it ..anyhow he would yelp if you picked him up a certain way..was very sleepy and depressed.... he has a lil lump in the area where the shot was given... hopefully it goes away in a couple of days..... |
p.s how did coco react to her shot....? |
the lump is most likely due to the rabies shot. it will go away. morgan had one from her distemper shot but it went away within an hour. the rabies vaccine lump takes a little longer. don't worry it will go away. just check it every day to make sure its not getting any bigger |
No reaction at all. She wasn't even sleepy or tired on the day of. She is 4 lbs of energy and strength. No area on her body was hurting her. The lump doesn't even hurt her, I squeezed it and played with it but no reaction. I'm so sorry about Madda, she was just too special and God needed her with him :) She had her rabies last friday the 4th and her parvo the week before that. |
My Jewels had a bump after her rabies. It took about 3 weeks before it went away |

This is perfectly normal. My Hootie gets a lump every single time she gets a shot. Just keep an eye on the lump. If it gets any bigger then it may be something else, like a Staph infection  (My sister's yorkie got a Staph infection from a shot and she had to treat it with antibiotics, but it went away.) But, as long as the bump stays the same size and gets smaller, then it is fine. |
Nobella, Baby had the very same thing happen to her. It was her first rabies shot ever. Scared me!! It took a while to go away. |
It's so good to know a lot of others have had similar experiences. I wasn't too worried since her eating, potty and activity level is normal and her lump doesn't hurt her, but just wanted to check. I will be keeping an eye on that little sucker to make sure it doesn't get bigger. |
Bumps after rabies is common. They can also lose a patch of hair where the rabies vaccine is given. Although common, these are still "reactions" to the vaccine, but it's all we have at this time to protect are babies from rabies. So much research is going into vaccination recommendations now, I hope they do some research and find that our little Yorkies don't need the same amount of rabies vaccine as Great Danes. |
