Hemmorrahagic gastro-enteritis/ has anyone had this happen My older male York started vomiting from 5pm-9pm, and then he started with bloody stools! Had to go to the ER that night and also the next morning he was still being hydrated in his regular Vets! Cost a whole bunch, but I do not know what caused it! The blood tests was Hemorrhagic gastro-enteristis! He was a rescue Yorkie and he had heartworms and was treated. The vet thought maybe Whipworms so he treated him for that just in case! Has anyone heard of this!!!!!!!?????? |
I hada a Yorkie Gracie that had it a few times. With meds she was fine in a couple of days. Stress seemed to be what set her off. A long car trip to Florida, bad storms. I hope ypu baby is feeling beter soon. |
Hemorrahagic gastro-enteritis The vet mentioned stress related, and you did too and it dawned on me that Jackson was so frightened over fireworks that week. I was so worried, since I never thought he was so afraid. His personality changed! I will go to the vet sooner if I notice him doing the same thing, since he dehydrated! |
They actually don't know what causes it, but stress is one of the things listed. He is more likely to have another attack after the first. Just keep a close eye on him and head to the vet when you see bloody stools because they dehydrate quickly and usually the vet wants them off food and water for at least 24 hours and just introduce fluids intravenously to let the stomach rest. I am glad he is doing better now. |
