Yorkie sutures/stitches Hi, this is going to sound strange but I thought I'd see if anyone else had this problem. My Trixie was spayed in April and they used the sutures that were to dissolve. However, a month later they seem lumpy in that area. I asked the vet and was told this was normal. Now its July and they are the same. I am very worried and every bad thought is running through my head about this. I keep thinking something was left inside of her. This is all very strange to me and I wondered if this happened to anyone else?? She isnt bothered by it and they never were infected but I hate feeling those lumps. MAkes me so nervous for her. Thanks for the help. |
I hope someone can answer your question, because I am interested in knowing whay they say. My baby also has a lumpy area around her incision. She was spayed three weeks ago and I am worried about it. The vet told me it will go away???? |
Lumps Hi there! I just got back from the vet and was told they may never go away. I wish I was told this the last time. They said it was normal and nothing to be concerned about. My vet said her dog is now 4 years old and you can still feel lumps. I guess some dogs they dissolve rather quickly while others dont. I still dont like it but nothing I can do. If you take your dog for a checkup please let me know what they say. I like comparing vets reasons. Never know when someone has made a mistake. Maybe I'm just paranoid but I cant help it. They are my babies. Thanks for posting your thought. :aimeeyork |
lexi was spayed 8 months ago, i still can feel alittle bit of bumps there... |
Could these be keloids? Keloids can be a real problem, I get them myself after surgeries, it is when the scar continues to grow usually outward but I have the problem of them also continuing to grow inwardly :( I finally had the last keloid removed by plastic surgeon due to the fact that it was so very painful, they tried previously to remove them with lasar, but it didn't help any. Did the vet say these are keloids? |
Hi, thanks for that info. I just got back from the vet and was told her lumps were normal  I still find this odd but dont know what else to do. I am going to call and ask what was used on her. Thank you |
This is just scar tissue i have it where i had my c-section 7 years ago and Pippa has it too where she was spayed |
I have an appt. tomorrow with the vet. I will ask. It feels so weird compared to before her surgery. I will ask and will post. |
I took Dezi to the vet and the vet told me that the bumps on Dezi's surgery are not Keloid, that it is not unusual to feel or see bumpiness in the belly area after being spayed. The sutures inside need to dissolve and the type of sutures the vet used, would take anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks to completely dissolve. I will keep you posted! |
Maddie was spayed a year ago April and she still has those bumps along her incision line. I think my vet said that scar tissue forms. If Maddie's haven't gone away when it's been over a year, I doubt they will ever go away! |
My Penny was spayed in February.... she was lumpy in the incision area for a few weeks... now you can't even tell she had surgery.... I can't even see a scar!!! |
Suture sticks out incision! Cooper had hernia surgery 6 weeks aga. The incision healed fine but I can see and feel the end of the suture sticking out of the incision! It feels like fishing line. Is this normal? Will it go away? |
Cali had a huge incision from abdominal surgery and spaying and it felt and looked all bumpy for 4-5 months, now you can't even tell where they were. The vet said they were internal sutures that would dissolve eventually. |
My girl was spayed one month ago, and i've noticed that she has 1 bump also when i touch it i can feel as if there's a stitch underneath it. She was never infected and she has healed very nicely but that one little bump is still there, i'm not sure what it is and if it really is a stitch. P.S. Very good question:thumbup: |
Dezi's bumbs are now all gone, I also felt a stitch from the outside, but it went away after 8 weeks. |
