Excuse the late reply ... Our Chipper is 13 years old, he was given to us when he was a baby ... and very sick with Hypoglycemia. His sister had died, so he couldn't be sold. The first few years he had quite a few seizures, sometimes 2 or 3 a week. We depend on Nutri-cal, a high calorie sugar nutriment in a tube, we've found it works best. Gradually they've slowed down, but never stopped or been predictable ... except if we go somewhere and forget the Nutri-cal (!), then it's a quick stop for a sugar packet! Or if he gets excited, visiting or a strange dog. He's never outgrown them, he'll go a month or two, then have one. He comes to us when he feels one coming on ... we pick him up, and hold him real tight until it passes and then give him Nutri-cal. Chipper is the smartest, most loving, social butterfly, alert, protective and finest dog we've ever had or known. And, I know your baby will be too! Chipperdancing |
My baby had an episode this past Friday. It was very scary. She acted dead. She's fine now, but I give her Nutrical every night & before I leave the house for any length of time. I don't ever want it to happen again. I really thought she was dead. |

Hypoglycemia can be very scary. I almost lost Diamond when she was around 12 weeks old. It\'s important to know the facts and what to have on hand incase your baby starts acting unusual. Diamond was extremely lifeless and she didn\'t budge the whole time I was going to the vet. I had her wrapped up in a towel and I was crying the whole way because I thought I was going to lose her :( She is healthy as ever though! Getting spayed tomorrow. |
Question please?? Is there a weight range where this is no longer as much of a danger?? I got my puppy at less than a lb & gave her the Nutrical several times a day. We have had her for about 6 weeks now and she is up to a little over 2 lbs at 15 weeks. She seems to be eating pretty well and I have quit giving her the Nutrical. Should I start giving it to her again? Sure don\'t want anything to happen to this sweet baby girl. I\'ve been insistent that the vet only give her one of her shots at a time and we have not had the rabies yet- I\'m trying to put him off until 6 months for that. Any insight from those of you more experienced than me would be appreciated. Donna:animal-pa |

You & Diamond are in her prayers. Is she having laser or scalpel & is the vet using isofluorane? Forgive my spelling, please. God bless. Donna |
