Can I use Visine to flush my Yorkie, Ernie's, eye out? |
I would NOT recommend this. If he needs his eyes flushed out, you really really need to take him to the vet. |
No you need eye drops from the vets. I have heard you can blind a yorkie by using eye drops for humans. I would check with your vet before using visine |
What about a 1/2 salt, 1/2 water saline solution? I see references to that on this site... |
You should check with your vet for sure. I have a Bichon with dry eye and I have to flush them and clean them 3 times or more a day, with eye wash. They sell it at the vet and I also use Bausch and Lomb sterile eye wash solution, I get it at target. MaryKay |
I've used rewetting (saline) drops on my aunt's Yorkie. Visine isn't just saline, so I wouldn't recommend it. There are some drops you can use that were recommended by someone to me on YT. I'll try to find the thread for you. ;) Here it is: eye wash |
Visine is not good for humans, little lone Yorkies! It contains preservatives that can be very irritating and can actually make eye problems worse. Please speak to the vet. Your safest option for cleaning is probably sterile saline solution, without preservative if you can find it. If not, use something for sensitive eyes (get it in the contact lens isle). |
