cat scratchs Does anyone have cats and Yorkie's? My daughter's cat just scratched Katy and she was bleeding. the area swelled up. I washed the area and iced it down. But, I am not sure if the cat scratch affects them in any other way. Does anyone have experience in this? |
I should mention. The cat got her in the neck. |
she should be fine as long as you cleaned it up. you can put some neosporin on it |

I bet she'll stay away from the cat from now on. I have two cats, one declawed and one not, they are afraid of the one who is not declawed cause he bops them on the head and hisses. LOL The one with claws is much nicer to them. |
They have 2 cats 1 kitten and one overweight adult. Katy was playing with the kitten. The adult walked up and got her. I think she was jealous. |
I have to cats and my yorkie terrorizes him the cats will swat at him but they go back for more! I would just keep a close eye on the wound it should heal fine just check for infection and just keep a close eye when they play together!:D |
I would definitely wash it well with an antibacterial soap and apply neosporin regularly. I found this article on Cat Scratch Disease, don't know if it would affect dogs in the same way as humans, but read it so you know what to watch for. http://familydoctor.org/024.xml |
2 Attachment(s) I called the vet . He wanted to see her. When we went he said that the cat got her jugular. He put her on antibotics and hot compresses for the swelling. Here are some photos. |
Update Katy is much better today. Most of the swelling has gone down. The area is still tender. |
I have 2 cats but they are both declawed. My yorkies will not let them in the same room. They will run them out. My yorkies rule the house :p |
Katy and the kitten got along fine. They were even cleaning each other. Both slept int he bed with my granddaugther. But not the big cat. In the big cats defense, things had been very crazy due to the wedding. Quote:
