Yorkie foaming at the mouth Hi, I took my 16 month old male Yorkie to a dog run earlier this evening. We where there about an hour and a half. At one point I thught that he had something in his mouth, but when I looked it seemed like foam. He was acting fine, running around playing and about a half hour later I saw that he was foaming again. He does not seem sick at all other than that. We left the dog run about an hour and a half ago and he seems to have stopped foaming. an anyone help me out with this. Is it possable he was getting overgeated or something? Thank you in advance Jack |
Is it possible that he got ahold of a toad? |
Re foaming I don't think so. JAck |

Foaming at the mouth could be a sign of overheating or heat stroke. With heat stroke their gums are usually brick red. Another thought, do you have toads in your area? If they lick these poisonous toads they will foam at the mouth. |
I had a Yorkie named Zorro a unneutered male, once to my friends house because she was thinking of getting another dog. She had one female and a lady was bringing over another rescue female. We were lokking and playing with the new dog and not paying much attention to Zorro. Then a little later we saw all this foam all over her house. We couldn't figure it out. We looked at Zorro and he was foaming at the mouth. It was the weirdest thing and it never happened again. |
I just got a new issue of "The Whole Dog Journal" and they have an article about stress It says... Drooling or foaming: This my be an indication of stress - or a response to the presence of food, or an indication of a mouth injury. The article has 2 pictures of dogs foaming at the mouth at a dog park. Maybe he got over stimulated or was there a dog kind of bullying yours? |
Re foaming Teddyer 24 hours has been fine for over 24 hours now. I took him back to the dog run today. I guess he was just overheated or someting. Thanks for the help. Jack |
we took a long car ride on a very hot day and romeo started to foam a little. i think he was dehydrated. never saw it again. |
