| It was just a sting, itched, and a small red spot like a pimple, later disappeared. At 4 a.m., I woke up in pain and my left hand was huge, couldn't see any veins, bones, joints, a balloon. I woke my husband up and said. "look at my hand"! He replied,"it's nothing and will be gone in the morning". I got dressed left a note stating which hospital I would be visiting and drove to emergency entrance, security parked my car. I was in emergency care immediately. They diagnosed the spider bite as 'recluse' after tests and I was on IV's. I was in a room on IV's for 10 hours, no one called from my family nor did I ask to call them. After discharge, I took a taxi home. I wasn't permitted to drive because of medications administered. I was on antibiotics for 20 days and told to watch for any change in the area of the bite, warned about possible skin graft. When I arrived home(a Sunday) I was furious at my family and can't write what I called them.
I would think that such a bite would be fatal to a Yorkie.
I was bitten leaving a wedding at a hotel in the NJ Meadowlands. I have since refused to attend anything there.
