Brown throw up,shes thrown up 7 times! I came down this morning to help my dad fix breakfast for my mom and my mom said the puppy has been throwing up. the first 5 times had been brown, like the color of her food and the most recent 2 times have been a flemmy white color. We leave dry food out for her all day so i don't know if she has eaten today. We took her food and water away and were watching her. Should i call the vet? Should i be worried?. My mom just took her outside and she threw up again (that was the 7th time). Now Reese is laying down and looks miserable. She was fine this morning she was trying to play with our big dog but now she is sick. We haven't changed her food or anything, she was fine last night to. Do you think its just a bug? |
shes thrown up 2 more times (total of 9) now its just a clear mucusy throw up,but i'm still concerned. she is laying back down now. |
can't find out how to edit. i found out from my mom that she had eaten cat poop earlier,do you think that could be the reason? |
I would call the vet!! Better to be safe than sorry! |

I would call the vet also. If she ate the cat poop before she started vomiting, it could be the culprit, but the vet could make a better determination. These little ones can dehydrate easily so keep offering liquids also. Hope she feels better soon. |
let her have water,if she eat the cat poo thats probley why she is being sick but i would take her to the vets as cat poo sometimes contain toxins which can be very bad. |
thanks for the replies guys. she won't drink water on her own but then again she just woke up. she is trying to lick it off my finger. i'm going to call the vet soon |
I don't know honestly if it's the actual poop she's vomitting from (they eat their own poop too). BUT...it could be that she ate some of the kitty litter, and that's no good. I'd call the vet. ;) Hope your baby feels better! And please don't forget to let us know the outcome! |
How is she now? I would let her lick an ice cube and give her a tiny bit of nutrical. see how that sits in her tummy, then give her a teaspoon of baby rice cereal made with warm water. If she won't eat it, add a little chicken baby food. It sounds like she ate something and needed to empty her stomach. Now she is vomiting bile and she may need a little food in there to make her stop. Cat poop/litter will definitely do this. Have you talked to the vet? |

She got up for a few minutes and played with the older dog,now shes laying down and sleeping again,i think she is worn out. I'm still watching her. she hasn't thrown up since about 10:00 am. I think i'm going to see how she is and maybe call the vet later. I'll try and give her some baby food later and see if she eats that. so its cat litter bad to eat? she likes to get into the litter box and play with the cat's poop (ew!) so i don't know if she may have eaten some of that. |
since its sunday and mothers day the vet is not in the office. she is walking around and licking an ice cube. i'm going to call the vet tomorrow. her vet does live up the street but i don't want to bother him,he does walk his dog later on so i'll look for him and ask him. i think she's ok now just a little worn out |
If my dog were vomitting - I would watch it for a day - Never take a dog's water away from it. When we or dogs have the flu or something and are vomitting - we become dehydrated anyway. So, whenever there is vomitting - your pup needs to be drinking even more water than usual. Plus - if a poor little pup is vomitting - you really don't want an empty stomach. Try to at least have fluids in it... otherwise, she'll have the "dry heaves," which are much more uncomfortable and problematic. Carol Jean |
How's your little one? Has she eaten anything? What about bm's? Hope all is well! Keep us posted. |
I would give her nutrical or nutristat and give her Pedialyte by syringe every hour. If she is still vomiting tomorrow I would take her in. The most important thing right now is not to let her get dehydrated after all that vomiting. Dehydration can very quickly lead to kidney and other permanent organ damage. |
