I'm worried Okay, I really hope I am over reacting here... Tucker has been very sleepy yesterday and today. He slept this morning from 6:30-8:30 when he is normally up playing with Tripp. When he got up he was very stiff on his left side and kept limping. By about 10:00 though he was still lethargic, but his limp wasn't as bad. I just got back home from church and he's so tired! I don't know what is wrong, and when he got up of the recliner out of my lap he kinda tripped and fell over. He's not like disoriented, I'm just really worried. With him having a liver shunt and neurological problems, and we just put him on new food that the last time we tried gave him bad crystals, should I be worried? Or just give him time to stretch out and wake up?? Did he just sleep wrong??? I know this might not be a big deal, but we've learned to be aware of every little thing with him. I don't know what to think. |

Tucker I would be concerned with the symtoms...if he worsens I would go to the ER...watch him closely and take him to the vet for sure tomorrow...a dog can get joint problems from arthritis as they age..but younger ones do not react to a stiff muscle by being lethargic..I do not like the word lethargic..I have seen Yorkies with broken legs, newly spayed/neutered, stitches in their head, navel surgery, teeth removed, you name it, but they are acting normal..eating, trying to play..lethargic means sick to me. Best wishes |

He's walking better now, pretty much normal. But the vet who is working with us on his liver shunt is in Houston. I'm going to see about calling her tomorrow. He just seems very tired. He does have his down days, but this one is just out of the ordinary.. like his bones ache. He's being very "clingy" I guess too, always wanting to lay on you. I worry about him so much... but he can use the bathroom normal, which if he is sick is usually the first problem. Thanks for your replys |
Tucker That is good to hear...with a shunt, I guess you are used to ups and down.. |
Poor Tucker. hopefully he's just having an off day and will feel better tomorrow. Cali has mild MVD and I always worry when she's not acting normal. |
Okay, I feel like he is back-tracking. I have no idea what is wrong, he hasn't played with Tripp all day and has a forlorn look on his face. He has eaten, drank, and gone to the bathroom normally. I don't know what to do, no one else in my house thinks it's anything to worry about, but I'm sooo worried!! He walks slow and stiff, and is always laying down. What do I do? Do I just wait til tomorrow and see how he is?? I know he's not in critical danger, but with all his medical problems I wish I had some idea what was wrong! :( |
He is so stiff... Hopefully we can get him into the vet tomorrow, but he has the weirdest symptoms!! I'm so worried!!! He acts so sad! |
aww I'm sorry Megan!! Hoping it all turns out well!! :( poor Tucker.. |
Poor puppy. I'm so sorry to hear this. I don't know what to suggest but I'll keep an eye out for your posts so please keep us updated. I'm pretty sure everything will be fine but you are both in our thoughts in the meantime Much love and hugs, Annie and Badger x |
I swear... this is crazy. 2 seconds ago he could barely waddle outside... now he's looking sleepy but kinda normal? Any ideas of what could be wrong? I thought about some kind of poison, but he has virtually no exposure to outside without being on his leash to go to the bathroom... Right before they went to bed: http://dropshots.com/megankat22 (the latest video) |
Try not to worry too much Megan, love. From the looks of those clips, he's definitely not in any immediate danger. He could just be very tired. Is he on medication at the moment? You mentioned earlier that he has neurological problems... In all honesty, I think he might just be having an off day. Keep an eye on him through the night if you can but I'm sure the vet will be able to sort it out in the morning. Are you going to take him in? Maybe let him sleep with you on the bed and give him lots of cuddles and so on. Poor baby x |
Thank you for your reply Annie&Badger. I am so paranoid about him, and he does seem better.. I hope he stays this way now. He is on neomycin, but he has been for months now and it has never done this.. so I'm hoping he's just sore from playing too hard or sleeping wrong. I think we'll see how he is in the morning, and go from there |
I hope that Tucker is doing ok. I hope that he is just very tired. I will call your vet if you see him lethargic again. Please keep us posted. I will have him in my prayers. |

In humans that take the drug over long periods of time, there may be some risk to the kidneys. Symptoms include: · an allergic reaction (shortness of breath; closing of the throat; hives; swelling of the lips, face, or tongue; rash; or fainting); · little or no urine; · decreased hearing, ringing in the ears, or a feeling of fullness in the ears; · dizziness, clumsiness, or unsteadiness; · numbness, skin tingling, muscle twitching, or seizures; or · severe watery diarrhea and abdominal cramps That's the human reaction to the drug not dog and none of that really applies to him but it's worth noting anyway. I would take him to the vet in the morning if you can and get them to check him out. Just to put your mind at rest if anything Annie x |
