Nervous About Surgery Pogo has a luxated patella in his rear left leg. We got him from a local pet store..I know...I know....talk to the DH about that one...he is from a local breeder though. The pet store gave us a 1 yr guarantee against genetic defects. His one year is up April 22nd. They will pay for the surgery. They don't want to, but I have a contract. Even with that, we had decided against it and figured we would just pay for it ourselves if he ever HAD to have it. Well, two days ago he was lame for 16 hours! He was MISERABLE. He is so active. It is effecting his quality of life. Even today, he gets up from lying down and he is limping for a few minutes. He has an appointment for surgery this coming Friday. Anybody else's baby have this surgery? How did they do? I am so nervous about it. |

Poor Pogo! I've never had to deal with this before but I say, let the pet shop pay for the surgery. Then, after they have to dish out all of that money, they'll reconsider ever purchasing from this breeder again. Best of luck and keep us updated. |

This website links through YTNR (Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue and might help you. Sorry to hear about your little one but I would absolutely go ahead with the surgery. One of our rescue's had to have it done and he is a changed dog now for the better - anyone is once the pain stops. Good Luck and lets us know how your little one is doing. http://www.leggperthes.com/ |
