Why does he throw up yellow? HI, my 8 month old Ranger has been throwing up yellow byle. It could happen at any time and it is usally just liquidy. I feed him straight dry food: Royal Canine puppy. If any one knows what I'm doing wrong please help. |
It's definitely bile. Have you talked to your vet about it? If your dog is still eating, I'd definitely want tests run. |
Is he getting enough water? My yorkies will throw up yellow if they are not drinking enough. |

My dogs eat straight dry dog food from puppy age. They do not throw up bile. there could be something more serious there. |
bile It is bile..and they do it when the stomach is empty and a bit queasy..you can stop it by giving a late night snack and early morning feeding. Good Luck PS..Royal Canine is extremely high in protein, so be careful with a Yorkie...you want to hold around 22-24%..I think RC is 33?? nOt sure.. |

Shelby did this a lot when she was younger. It only happened in the morning on an empty stomach. Vet said it's common in little dogs with sensitive stomachs. Limit the carpet gunk intake and get food in the tummy early. (The ONLY time it happens now is when we take her to a different home and she decides to clean the carpet of gunk spots. Next morning, she hurls) |
I do not have this problem as I feed my gang twice a day. |
Have you changed food recently? Changing them over cold turkey, can do this to them as well. Trixie threw up a couple of times in the week that I switched her food from Royal Canine to a Vet Diet of Eukanuba. Even though I mixed the old and the new food for a week, she still had an upset tummy. I gave her Nutrical and water after she threw up. And she was fine! But if it persists, please consider seeing your vet. |
Mojo had this problem for about 3 or 4 months, after a good few hundreds in vet bills we still couldn;t find anything wrong with him...so we completely changed his diet...he is on a scheduled feeding and now has 2 1/2 meals...the half is during the day in between meals...so his stomach never gets empty. He will still throw up sometimes if he eats something different but it is 99% better....talk to your vet and see what he/she recomend and if necessary run a few exams... |

No I haven't changed foods but I was thinking about doing that. Thank you for your advice and for replying to my question. Take care. tpitcher |

Usually when our pups (or even we) throw up only yellow fluid (bile), it's because our stomachs are empty and there is nothing else there to come up. And even having only fluid (water) in our stomachs doesn't stop this from happening. You might try feeding your puppy smaller amounts more often. Whenever my pups (dogs) appear to be having an upset stomach, I let them have Tums. My vet said this will do the same thing for them that it does for us --- cut down on the acid content in the stomach. Giving your pup a Tums occasionally won't hurt her at all. If she's real small - just give her half of one every once in a while. If she throws up often - you'll quickly be able to tell if this helps her. Carol Jean |
Cali is 9 months old and still does this 1-2 times a week first thing in the morning even though I feed her 3 times a day and she had tons of test and even stomach biopsies. Vet said just to feed her 3 times a day. |
