Yorkie won't eat!!! Our Yorkie is named Roxy and she is almost 16 months old. I've had her at the vet off and on for the last 10 days. She initially spent a day vomiting when we took her to the vet. She was diagnosed as having Pancreatitis and after three days her enzyme levels were normal. Since then she has volunteered to eat very little and has lost nearly 2 pounds (initial weight 9.4 pounds, current weight 7.6 pounds). She is currently at the vet and he has been able to maintain her weight through force feeding. Barium x-rays indicate no obstructions within her digestive system and the vet sems stumped. Roxy does have BMs with her force feeding and other than her unwillingness to eat, she seems to be normal (under weight, but normal). The vet plans to consult with Kansas State University to see if they have any ideas why Roxy won't eat, but I'm placing this post to see if someone else has experienced this problem. I'm getting nervous about finding a solution and I don't want to lose her. |
I am sorry Roxy is so sick. Thank goodness she was a bigger yorkie because 2 lbs is alot of weight to lose. I hope you get some answers soon and I will keep her in my prayers. |
Hi and welcome here. I can't help as I have never had anything like this before. I am sure you will get some responces from others who might know on here. Good Luck. |
Hi and welcome to YT. I am sorry you are going through this with your baby. I have had issues with Georgie not eating and he is only 3.2lbs, it's very nerve racking. I am not sure what the problem is and I have been to the vet numerous times about it. I have tried baby food and other things to entice him. One of things that I have to remind myself is that he is a Yorkie and doesn't eat like my 75lb boxer. I will keep Roxy in my prayers and hope she starts feeling better soon. |
Mark, Welcome to YT. I don't have any answsers, i just wanted to welcome you. I hope she gets back to narmal soon.. |

So so sorry to hear of your loss. I will remember you and Roxy in my Easter prayers tomorrow. :( |
Roxy Thank you all so much! We went to two different vets trying to find out what was wrong with Roxy. After much testing, the last vet believes that the problem was with her liver. We tested for Liver Shunt, but according to the vet, that wasn't the problem. The vet speculated that it may have been a genetic problem that was aggrivated by something she shouldn't have eaten, but we'll will never know for sure. I wasn't aware of this forum until I began to search the web to find out what was wrong with Roxy. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated more than you'll ever realize. |
