New mommy very worried
 

My baby is going to be 3 months old this weekend, and last friday she went
for her 2nd booster shot and also her kennel cough meds, well now since Monday
she has been sneezing like crazy. she doesn't sneeze very much during the
day it's mainly in the morning. she sneezes a lot actually her sneezig even
wakes her up at night. Yesturday i noticed that she has a little bit of a
runny nose also. other then the sneezing she is totally fine.
Is something wrong with her? and is it normal for her to be sneezing alot?
Or could it just be a little cold? I'm so worried about her.
Please please help if you can. :(

So sorry to hear your little baby isn't feeling great. I'm a new Mommy too so I can't offer any advice. Did you ask the vet about her sneezing? Maybe you can do a search on this website for sneezing and see if there is any information out there or google dog sneezing. Be sure to keep us updated.

I would call your vet. They usually have the best advice. sorry I couldn't really help.

I'd call the vet and see what they say also. Is she acting normal in every other way....eating, pooping, peeing? Please let us know how she is doing....I hope to hear she is all better.

Thank you all for your concern. Other then the sneezing she's normal everything else is completely fine just the constant sneezing. I phoned the vet and he said it may just be due to the Bordella medicine that she was given ( through her nose) he said that if she keeps on sneezing a lot within the next week then to bring her in cuz she may have sniffed something that has gotten caught in her nose. :( I really hope that isisn't the case and the sneezing will stop. I know how frustrating it can be when i sneeze a few times in a row.. i can't imagine how she must feel sneezing like 6 times in a row at a time.

poor little thing. Please remember to post on how she is doing in about a week. Hope she gets it out of her system way before that.

My pup tore open a vacuum bag once and proceeded to play with everything that was in it and scatter it all over the room.

The end result was that she "sniffed" a lot of this stuff up her nose - and she did sneeze a lot for several days ---her own fault!

Of course - it helps a lot that I knew what she had done - and her sneezing made a lot of sense to me.

Now that I'm thinking about it - everyonce in a while my dogs have a sneezing spell - it always goes away - and I am sure that they probably just sniffed something up their nose that bothered and "tickled" their nose until they got rid of it.

My Ginger has been sneezing too. The other day she tore up her potty pad and I'm sure she got some of the cotton up her nose. Is this something I should be concerned about and take her to the vet for or will she be able to get it out herself?

My 3 1/2 year old Yorkie, Buddy, sneezed for hours in November 2005. He was sneezing so much he couldn't even stay standing. I thought maybe he got something stuck in his nose, too, but the vet did a thorough exam and nothing was in there. Then they did a culture...I think it took a couple of days to get back....and it came up that he was diagnosed as having been infected with the Pseudomonas bacteria. The vet said he could have picked this bacteria up anywhere...as it is found everywhere. The vet said that even people can get infected by this, but that most people or animals don't get sick from it because their immune system is strong enough. The vet told me that we could even catch it from Buddy. We moved in mid-October and the vet believes that my dog was stressed from the move and that his immune system was down...plus all of the sniffing that Buddy was doing outside in his new environment didn't help any either.

Anyways...if it is Pseudomonas, it is BAD. Buddy had to go on the human antibiotic Cipro. It is VERY expense if you buy the brand name ($148 I think)...but the generic is much less expensive ($37 I think). The vet was concerned and said that this was very serious and that I should watch for GREEN and/or YELLOW discharge from the dog's nose. The vet's exact quote was, "If you wipe his nose with a white tissue, and it is green or yellow, you are in big trouble."

I don't want to scare you, but I want to let you know that this might be a possibility and that if it is this, you should get your Yorkie checked and treated ASAP.
