impacted  Has anyone ever had this problem? My 4 mo Yorkie Jacy woke up this morning not himself, would not eat, laying around and I felt his behind he had a big piece of poop stuck half in half out of his little behind. I soaked his bottom in the sink with warm water and removed it myself {NOT FUN :( } and then trimed the hair in that area because there was alot stuck. I noticed he was dragging his rear on the carpet so thats what made me look. I am worried that he is impacted inside and if there is anything I can give him. He is not crying just still laying around and wont eat his food. I did give him a different brand of food yesterday. Any advice would be welcome and I am waiting for the Vet to call me back. |
I'm sorry, no advice but how is he doing any news or advice from the vet? |
I call these butt plugs  and when it happens mine won't eat and try to hide. I watch when everyone comes in and if someone runs and hides then I always check their fannys. If this goes on to long then they can get an intestinal infection but hopefully you caught it in time. |
He is sleeping and still not eating, no news from the vet but he did go on my bathroom floor at some point when I was not watching and I dont even care just as long as he did it. |

He is alittle sore, woke up and is more active but still dragging his rear on the carpet. I was reading other post relating to this and some said about giving canned pumpkin which I have. If so how much? Do you know anything about this? |
I dont know anything about the pumpkin, but I have had to get the poop out of chloes but many time! Just keep his little bottom shaved and you should be ok! Keep us updated! |

I am concerned that he is still dragging his fanny. Are you 100% sure you got all the poop off, even under his tail. They hate having any poop back there. |
Rosi had this so bad @10 weeks so bad she was like drooling, i grabbed her and toomk her to ER where they cleaned her out , poor baby had a very sore butt for a while and she had to get fluids ! I had to put Preporation H on her butt for a few days ! |
yes, I keep checking him I think it is because he is sore. He woke up and played for awhile and drank alittle water but still will not eat. He is sleeping again and has been going up the stair and even managed to get up on my sons bed twice so I dont think he is in pain. The poo had alot of hair in it and I also remember he ate something from the grass when we were out for his walk yesterday, I tried to get it from him but he would not let me. I am so worried because he is sleeping so much and will not eat. |
Just a note, Jaci is awake running around alittle, went in closet removed one of my bras and is chewing away so I think he is feeling better. He keeps going back to the closet for more "stuff" to bring out. I am going to try some food. Thanks to everyone for the advice |
Don't worry unless it has been days that he has not eaten. Just make sure it is very bland. I also put Bag Balm on their sore fannies (can buy in almost any drug store) if it is red. |
Oscar had something similar a couple of weeks ago. But his was accompanied with a very growly belly and he would run in pain when it hit him. The vet I took him to said his stool was very sticky and had a lot of fibery stuff...something he ate in the yard. He told me to give him soft scrambled eggs and cottage cheese...he also said a little velveeta would not hurt him. I also gave him 1/4 of a Pepcid AC 10 mg...that would be 2.5 mg of that. I only gave it to him one time...that is what the vet said to do...next day he was fine. He was never dragging his butt tho...he just could not poop at all and refused to eat anything. I hope your little guy is better. I had a Chihuahua that used to get really red on his hiney and it was anal glands gone bad...might want to check that out as well. |
I have 6 furbabies and I always watch for butt plugs. I'm so use to it now and it doesn't gross me out. People who watch me unplug their butts gets grossed out but I don't care! LOL Keep an eye on him and always check the butt! |
