causes of ear mites???? Are ear mites contagious? My new puppy has it and now my older on has it ..... should I separate them? How do they get them? Is it the breeder not keeping them clean? Or is it caught from the outside? I've had litters before and never had ear problems from my babies..... :( |
Yes ear mites are contagious. I do know they feed on skin debris in the ear canal. |
Yes, ear mites are contagious. However if they both already have it, then what's the point in separating them now? Just treat them both for it at the same time and you should be able to get it zapped with no problem. Most of my dogs have come to me with mites. It's almost a given that they'll come here with it. First thing I do is pull the hair and clean the ears, then start treating with Eradimite. Before long, they don't have mites anymore. |

And do I get Eradimite from the vet or is it something I can buy at the pet stores? |
I get Eradimite from my vet. It works wonderfully for my guys. I'm pretty sure that it's not a prescription item though. http://underbid.com/action/display/i...sku/ERADI.html And there are other ear mite treatments that you can get at pet stores that will probably work. I just really like this one, as it doesn't tend to dry out the ears like some of the pet store kinds can. Then you have the little ones scratching like crazy for a few days at their ears...and we all know that's not fun. |
Cats? :cat0: Cats are notorious for carrying ear mites :cat0: |
