Tumor on lip is growing! Our Roxy Girl who turned 1 in December has a tumor on her lip. I have lost count of how much we spent on her so far. She has had seizures since she was 2 months old. She has a liver shunt that is inoperable(MVD) She is on Hills LD prescription food, lactulose, has had ultrasounds, etc, etc. Anyway, I noticed a bubble on her lip and thought she had an infection from something that poked her. I took her to the vet and he said she has a tumor!! She just went into heat so the vet said I have to wait to get it removed because he said it's also a good time to "fix" her. I am so scared. She has had so many problems and now this. The vet says she should be fine. I am nervous something is going to happen to her when they put her under. The vet is very experienced and knows her history. I just thank God I have the money from our tax return! |
Wow - You have been through alot. Just think how much money we could get back on taxes if we were allowed to claim these little ones. LOL!! Anyways, I hope things get better for Roxy. We will keep her in our prayers. Kim |
Poor Roxy! You have been through so much with her. I am sure she will be ok, especially since your vet seems very thorough and knowledgeable. |
Thanks for the support! Believe it or not Roxy acts fine. She has been on Phenobarbitol and hasn't had any seizures for months. I just notice she rubs the tumor by putting her nose down and running across the floor. I wish she wouldn't have gotten her heat, because the delay is making me crazy! Too much time to think about the surgery. What bad timing. Thanks again! Maria, Roxy's mom |
She is so lucky to have you as a mom and of course, you are lucky to have her to love. Is the "bubble" a tumor or a cyst? Cysts are more common that tumors in the mouth area..Keep us UTD on her progress..Both of y'all are in my prayers.. |
The vet said tumor. If it's a cyst that means it is more fluid filled, right? Would the vet have said tumor if it is really a cyst? He is going to do a biopsy on it. It has doubled in size since I took her. It has a big scab on the end of it , that is why I thought it was an infected something. I guess the scab is from her rubbing it on the carpet. Poor thing. I hope her heat is over soon! The vet said it lasts a month. |
Oh, poop. I hate to see her have to go another month with that thing growing so fast. My vet would do the spaying now although it would not be a first choice.. Your vet must not be too concerned or he would have said let's do something about this NOW..so trust him/her. And, yes, most cysts are liquid filled but the fact that your vet used the word tumor could just have been his choice of words. Good luck with your baby. You will be in my prayers and Rini's cuties send smoochies |
Thanks for the info. I am going to call on Monday just to ask about it growing. I guess you are right about him not being concerned. I am not really concerned about the tumor as much as putting her under with all of her health problems! Thanks again for your concern. Roxy Girl's mom, Maria |
Maria, the current anesthesias are very safe. My vet has started using sevoflorane which is VERY safe. Isoflorane is safe as well so she will be fine..No matter, we will still say extra prayers for her, you and those that are in charge of her care. Tell your vet to say prayers before he starts her surgery, too.. |
Hugs going out to Roxy. Hope you get better soon, girl! |
