need thoughts and prayers please As I have sd in other posts Gypsy has had Kennel cough for a while. Thursday they sd she sounded better but not over it. She was on 1 antibiotic, then another so now they put her on the original plus another type to take together along with cough syrup when I thought she needed it. She would sound better, then get bad again. Last night and today she sounded worse. The vet called and I told her so she had me bring her in. I had to leave her there for about 2 hrs for xrays and blood work. They are thinking of putting her to sleep to do a throat swab. I am so scared. The doc said she does not sound good and she is worried. We can not figure out why she gets better then bad. I am giving her meds like I am suppose to. I trust this vet and she is really trying and cares. Gypsy needs prayers and good thoughts. |
Oh I will say a prayer for her. My Cali and my pom had it for over 3 months. My pom who is older never completely got rid of the cough. Cali is fine now. I hope they can get Gypsy better soon. |

update: Just got back from vet. The reason they think she is coughing more is the found that she has swallowed a small sliver of metal.it may have scratched her esophagus. I make jewelry so I think it may be a piece of metal I cut from a earring post that got in the carpet and I missed it. The xrays also showed a possible enlarged heart. Not sure but a specialist is going to look at the xrays asap. I take her back monday morning. |

another update Another update: Gypsy is getting a throat swab tomorrow. She has to be put to sleep for a very short time for them to do it. I am worried. They want to do a culture. The specialist looked at the xrays and said not to worry so much about the heart at this time. Not enlarged enough to be concerned about at this time. From research I have done on line kennel cough can cause it. I take her in at 9 am and pick her up at 1. unfortunetly after I get her home I have to leave for work to be there at 2. She will have to be alone for about 3 hrs. I hate it but can not help it. The vet said it should not be a problem but again i worry. |
Oh poor baby and you! I don't know who it's harder on. I bet she wiil just sleep while you are away. Could you leave her at the vets until you will be home with her as another option? |
Im so sorry that your little Gypsy still sick with Kennel cough and might have an enlarge heart. I will have her in my prayers for her test to go well and you get some good news tomorrow and for her complete recovery. Please keep us updated. I know is hard not to worry but know that we are here for you. Hugs. |
Is there not a neighbor that you trust to watch your little one? I always want to make sure my little ones are watched after just after waking up from being put under anesthesia. So many things can happen that they should be seen to for. Someone should really watch your baby while you're at work if you really HAVE to go to work tomorrow. |

Oh my goodness, I hope they figure this out soon. For your sake and your babies sake. But if it is indeed kennel cough it can take months to get rid of it. |
