Jake has a KNOT on his side!!! Help! Hey guys, I came home from work today and as usual, I pick Jake up out of his crate to go outside. As soon as I picked him up, I noticed he had a knot :omg: on his left side. It is about half the size of a golf ball. This had to have happened today. I am totally freaking out. He acts fine and is very playful as usual. The only thing I can this is...our pygmy goat! Tinkerbell, our pygmy goat, mysteriously got out of her pen yesterday afternoon and got back out last night. I always let Jasmine (my 7 year old yorkie) and Jake out together in the mornings. I give them about five minutes and they are back at the door. So, I am wondering if the goat didn't "ram" him with her horns. She is very bad about that. I just don't know what to do here!!! HELP!!! |
I would take him to the vet because it could be from the goat and it has gotten infected. |
What really concerns me is there isn't any trace of blood or bruising. It's just there. |
I'm sure you don't mean a hair knot...right? If it's internal... I'd run to the vet. Sounds odd to me and since I live in NY..... don't know what a goat is capable of doing. Keep us updated.... poor baby. |
Does it hurt her to touch it? I would get him to the vet. Keep us posted. |
A goat with horns is pretty powerful. But, the knot doesn't seem to bother Jake at all. I pick him up constantly and know it just came out today. It just came out so suddenly and that is why I think the goat "head-butted" him. |
Please take your pup in anyway. Could be an infection where antibiotics are needed. |
If the goat head butted Jake, Jake would be very sore in that area....sore to touch, sore to your picking him up, etc. I feel certain he would yelp when you touched him in that area. Goats are very strong and if he (Jake) got head butted I doubt he would have walked away uninjured. I would take Jake to the vet. He could have gotten bit by a spider or any number of things. I am just doubting the goat head butted him hard enough to leave a knot and have Jake just walk away like nothing happened. Do you see what I am saying? I say go to the vet and have him looked at.....could be something very very minor....but there's nothing like peace of mind. |
