acid reflux My 3 year old Yorkie has been totally healthy since I got him at 9 weeks old. Lately he seems to have acid reflux. He will be sleeping and all of a sudden he jumps up and kinda gags-not like vomiting, but not choked either. Just like liquid coming up in his throat. He often then gets choked afterwards-like whatever came up went back down in his windpipe. I have explored collapsed trachea but the symptoms don't fit. Activity does not bring it on. Anyone have this problem??? |
pup It is hard to tell...feed him at least 3 to 4 meals a day, to keep his tummy full. Bile can back up when they have an empty stomach..good Luck |
Yes, what color is the liquid that comes up? It could be he just needs some food in his tummy, as YorkieRose suggests. :) |
Thanks for answering. Usually he does not throw up - just burps and chokes. Will try several small meals-as most Yorkies, he thinks he is starving all the time. I do feed raw-he has never been on kibble. Changed the routine around some and he has been better the last couple of days. |
