Muffin is growing bumps I have realized that my 4 month old yorkie has some little bumps on top of his head.. It's not a big bump, it pretty small.. like acne. We found little dried up blood scattered in his fur due to scratching too much. Maybe his nails are too long.. but is there any cream I can use on him? |
Any chance he has fleas? The flea's leave behind little dark specks that could look like dried blood. If he is allergic to them the flea bites would leave little bumps. |
He does scratch alot |
Hmmmm...I don't know, but sure hope you figure it out! Feel so bad for little furbabies that get the itches! |
Does anyone know how I can get rid of his fleas? |
I've always used Frontline from the vet, about $15 a month. Everyone has their own preference on things.....I'm curious what everyone else does or uses. |
Before you treat your dog for fleas - be sure he has them. My vet combs through a dog's hair with a fine flea comb several times and then bangs the comb onto a white counter. Wish I could remember for sure, but then I think she sprayed water on the that area - and said that fleas will show up if there are any. Also - when one of my dogs had fleas years ago - we could see them - and when we held or petted the dog - the fleas bothered us too. No fun! Carol Jean |
If it is fleas. You can bathe your dog in Dawn dishwashing liquid, letting it sit in lather for about 5 minutes. That will kill any fleas that are on him now. BUT it won't prevent any fleas that are in your house from reinfesting him. Then of course you have to use frontline or another monthly treatment. Do not use any over the counter flea treatment on your yorkie. Dips, sprays etc can be toxic to toy dogs. |
