Molly's hearing. Okay I think I'm just being silly, but.. Well, before I was coming downstairs and I opened the living room door quite roughly whilst she was there and it hit her, she gave out a little yelp I think. Since then, I don't know whether or not it's her being mischevious, but she's kinda not hearing stuff that she usually would. Like, little sounds? You know. My mum's been saying that I might have damaged her and I really hope I haven't.. does anybody know how to test her hearing? Is it just saying things at different volumes to see her reaction? I'm probably just being a typical worried, over protective mum but.. I wanna be sure I haven't hurt her. :( |
It's possible you may have hurt her hearing, but only if you hit the door near her ears. Too much air pressure on the ear drum can cause permenant damage. I would ask your vet. |
Okay thanks for the advice. I think her check up is soon.. I don't know where it hit her, I didn't even see her there. :( |
I really doubt that would be enough to damage her hearing. As my Yorkie approached 12 we could tell she was not hearing. We tested her by waiting until she was asleep and then clapping behind her - we could clap all day and she wouldn't budge! Never seemed to cause any problems. I think she read lips very well!!! |
I hope everything goes okay at the vet. Keep us posted. |
I hope that it is just temporary and her hearing is fine. Good luck at the vet and keep us posted! |
She's absolutely fine. We think the bang on the head would have just surprised her a bit because afterwards she seemed to be quite tired and dazed.. Back to her old self now! :) |
