color blind? Are dogs color blind? My friend's dog would only bark at people who wears black. He loves me everytime i go over but whenever I wear black he goes crazy and tries to attack me but he recognizes me and then he confuses whether he should attack me. It's weird. Does anyone know what Im talking about |
Not sure about that one but..... my mother in laws old dog RIP only barked at people wearing hats!!!! and a friends dog only barks at men!!! |
This is not true that dogs are completely color blind . They don't have the same vision as humans but they can see different colors but not all . |
i heard the same thing, they can see shades lighter than we can... |
I found this article on Canine Vision a while ago. Thought it was interesting. I just wonder how they figure this out. It's not like you can just ask your dog "What color does this look like to you?" |
Dogs are not color blind, but they are "color limited." They can see only limited colors - and not much compared to what we can see. Regardless - "black" is such a dark color - the darkness of it might be recognized by a dog - compared to so many other shades of color - even if they can't differentiate well between those different colors. From what I have read, cats are color blind, but dogs do have the red and blue receptors, but not the green receptor as in human vision. So a lime and a lemon look the same - don't know where black would fit in. |
My girl dog Misha goes nuts when she sees a person wearing all black, or a big hat or a face covered with a black scaarf. And i think they can see diff colors because when i change clothes, and my misha sees me with a diff outfit n diff colors, she titlts her head to the side and looks at my up and down in a weird way...like shes trying to figure out something. |
