Our dog sadie was pregnant with only one puppy. We took her in for a c-section and she lost the puppy about 3 weeks ago. She was in a week before I noticed some dark green discharge and the vet said to bring her in, the puppy still had a heart beat. Not sure what happened. The vet never said when to bring her back in, if she didn't go into labor. I called a week later and they said to bring her in and of course it was to late. She was constantly drinking water and peeing on the floor. I thought that it was because she was pregnant and just couldn't hold it. Well she was still peeing on the floor and drinking alot of water. I asked the vet about it when I took her in to get her staples out--plus she lost 4 lbs she said she wasn't concerned about her weight ( she weighed 13# for the last 4-5 years) and now she was 10.5# and her blood showed high gluecose before she had her c-section. The vet said that it was only because she was pregnant. I took a urine sample in yesterday and they left a message saying she had high sugar in her urine and possibly diabetes, have to take her back in for more tests. What happens if she does have diabetes? do they need daily shots or medication? or is there anything else that can be done?

WHAT??? What the HELL are they doing there?? I'm sorry, I'm a little emotional when it comes to this type of thing. I would try to find another vet. I trusted my Maddie to someone who just kept telling me to bring her back more than once and my precious girl died. You need to find someone who knows what they're talking about. It sounds to me like this vet is VERY unsure about his/her decision. This baby's life is nothing to "guess about". PLEASE get a second opinion....from the bottom of my heart, I am begging you. I am literally crying right now :cry:

Yes take her in!! I am a diabetic and know what it feels like to be that thirsty and if she has already lost that much weight it isn't long before she could be in REAL trouble!! There are lots of dogs that are diabetic and if she is insulin will be her life line - and most dogs do well once they are regulated!! Make an appointment asap!! Good Luck and keep us posted!!

Sadie has diabetes. She has been on insulin now for almost 3 months. I changed vets. The new vets are really concerned. But Sadie is going blind. I guess her mother also has diabetes. It is so sad to watch her. She walks into things. She is not completely blind yet. She can' t see her treats, but she can see her red ball to play with. She just kind of looks up at you when we talk to her like "hey whats going on" She always loved to sit on the top of the couch and watch out the window and now she can't see anything outside. She constantly drinks water and can't always make it outside so I have to block her out of the living room. and have to constantly scrub the floor in the kitchen and my bedroom. I'll keep you posted.

Thank you for the update. I am sorry to hear about this. My daucshund is blind she was born with no eyes. She will get accustomed to no vision. It will take awhile. I will keep her in my prayers.
