Signs of Bladder Infection ? Does anyone know signs of a bladder infection in a male yorkie ? Our furbaby is eating normal and playful. But, he keeps trying to urinate frequently. He can pee sometimes but other times he acts as if he is straining. He did have kidney stones a few years ago. But, he acted differently at that time and could not urinate at all. Any suggestions before we head to the vet tomorrow ? |
I know that two signs of it are blood in the urine and frequent urination. I hope you find out what is wrong. |
Blood in urine is what my male first started with when he had an infection. |
Gucci had an urinary tract infection a few mts. ago , her urine stunk and then she had blood in it. She was on two week treatment of antibodics and it went away. Hope this helps..... |
male There is really nothing you can do at home..the vet will put it right tomorrow I am sure..best of luck. |
Kobe is showing no signs of blood in his urine. So that is probably not the problem. I sure hope it is not another kidney stone. That was a very traumatic experience. |
Sounds like an enlarged prostrate. Is he fixed?? Is not, fixing him will help the problem. Good luck |
Yes he was fixed several years ago. |
If it is another kidney stone - you would be catching it earlier this time. Kidney stones can cause difficulty urinating for quite some time - before they become totally blocked. Keep watching him. If he really is having trouble urinating, I would take him to the vet for this. My main reason is that it isn't comfortable for him, and it may progress to become worse than it is now --and harder to treat. Carol Jean |
Kobe is doing great this morning. Urinating without any problems. He also continues to act as usual. I will probably continue to monitor him at home until he shows signs of discomfort again. Thank you for all the help you have given me. |
I would catch a urine sample first thing in the morning before taking him to the vet. Max urinated frequently and strained, had bladder infection and stones. He is monitored more often now as he has gone through this twice. Good luck! Jackie |
Great! Maybe he's just fine after all. Just keep an eye on him for a while -- which I know you are already planning on doing..... Carol Jean |
