Bengay or Icy Hot? I posted on another threadabout my maddy hurting her leg.... this happened thurs night.. anyhow last night I applied warm towels to her leg for couple of minutes... my question is this... would it be okay to put some icy hot or bengay on it to help soften her muscle tissue in case she might just have a sore leg...????? |
I would call and ask the vet before using it. |
Ok, talked to the vet, he said putting that stuff on her would be pointless... he suggested giving her a 20 minute whirlpoo bath( in a sink with constant leg massags) once a day to water warm to the touch, then he also suggested going and buying her some Vitamin E Capsules and giving her one a day to help her strengthen the leg....Hope this advice helps someone else! Thanks!! |
Glad to hear that your sweetie is recovering.. Did the vet tell you how vit. E works? I have looked and cannot find anything about it helping sprains or strains. Thanx |
it is supposed to help them rebuild their bones and help heal small hairline fractures and give the leg more strength! |
Glad to hear that Maddy is feeling better. Sending hugs. If the joint is involved, you might try a good joint supplement, but be sure that it contains a combination of glucosamine HCL, chondroitin sulfate, MSM and ascorbic acid for maximum joint flexibility. ... for joint cartilage), MSM (homeopathic pain reliever) and Ascorbic acid (vitamin C--for absorbtion). |
Comfort for my yorkie Hi I'm new to this forum. My yorkie Saya sprained her right front leg while I was out. I took her to her Vet immediately the next morning. He prescribed Rimadyl 25mg and has me give her 1/4 tablet 2 x a day as necessary for pain. Well, Saya doesn't whimper, just limps. She doesn't seem to be in pain but I hate seeing her limp. I'm trying not to play with her because she wants to run and jump. Do any of you think I should crate her while I'm out of the house. I have never crated her before. My Vet said if she continues to limp after 10 days he will need to do an xray. Has anyone experienced a sprain situation with their baby. Thanks |
