Goat Boy Strikes Again... I think Giz is trying to use up another of his lives. Couple of days ago I took a hard piece of plastic away from him that he found on the floor. It was the end of a highlighter pen, all chewed up. He must have swallowed some because he just threw up some blood tinged mucus and shortly after pooed outside. When he came in I wiped his lil butt with white tp and was blood there too. Vet opens in in fourty five minutes so we are getting ready to go. He looks like he feels so bad and won't eat. Did drink a little after being sick once. Gave him his Reglan but no results. So we're off. |
Poor little Gizmo. I hope he gets to feeling better -- sending hugs. |
Thank you for you're well wishes, it was very sweet. When I got Giz to the vet and while he was drawing blood Gizmo started bleeding profusely from the back end. It was so pittiful. I was crying, Giz was crying..The doc scooped him up and took him in the back and is in intensive care as of now. After he ran the blood work he said he was very dehydrated just since last night and was guessing something to the effect of Hemoragic Gastro something. My baby is up there all alone and never been a cage in his life. I am beside myself. When I called for the fourth time today I asked for the doctor and if Giz was going to be ok. He said he felt he would make it but it would take time on the IV and meds. He said Giz hasn't been bleeding anymore and has stopped throwing up. Going to be hard to sleep alone tonight, Gizmo got a big pain shot and is "comfortable". Man this sucks. It's nice to know someone cares, thanks for that. :) |
Maybe you could call-up the vet and ask if you could talk to Gizmo over the phone! All they could say is no. These little goats eat everything. I hope Gizmo comes home soon. You are a good mommy. |
I do hope little Giz starts to feel better soon. I know it is going to be a hard night for you both. You will remain in my thoughts and prayers. Hope you get good news tomorrow. Yorkies hugs from Jolene to Gizzy. |
Gizmo came home from the hospital today. He's still not 100% but he is better. He was sooo glad to see me and the nurses said "This is one spoiled baby". That's ok, he's all mine. He was diagnosed with HGE, and it was even worse than the Pancreatitis he had last year. I have to watch him close, he doesn't care much for the prescription dog food but is drinking the Pedialite. He will be on meds for a while. For the ones that inquired, it was appreciated. I would suggest reading up on HGE to familiar yourself with it should you ever need the information. It is a fast progressing disease that has to be caught quick, and in our case was just in time. ~God bless. :) |
Gizmo's Mom Check out the thread in Yorkie Health/Diet Titled Canine Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis. It might help. I hope Gizmo is doing better. Please keep us posted. :animal36 |
Im just now seeing this . I dont know how I missed it. Im so sorry you and your baby had to go thru this. I wish him the best and hope hes back to normal soon. Please keep us updated. |
Hope Little Gizmo feels better real soon ! |
Just read the post, and so glad Gizmo is home with you and feeling better. |
I to just read the post and I hope all is going well with you and Gizmo.. Our prayers are with you both. |
Oh no....Good luck .....and sorry for laughing - "Goat Boy" ??? I hope he's going to be ok and give that little Goat Boy a hug and tell him his food is WAY more yummy than that pen...Hopefully he'll pass it and be just fine.... |
That's so sad and so scary. So the HGE has nothing to do with the plastic? I read up a little on it, and it sounds like it's treatable but miserable for the little guys. Good luck! For what it's worth, Eddie was a goat too when he was younger, but the more chew toys we bought him, the less he started looking for bad things to chew. I hardly ever catch him with something he's not supposed to have any more. Try bully sticks, hooves, nylabones, kongs. The more the better. |
Poor Goat Boy!!! How's Gizmo feeling today?? Poor baby, sorry I missed this thread until now. Hope YOU are feeling better, too, Mom!! My Jasper had HGE near the end of his little life. Poor guy, we nursed him back, but when Angel died, he just did not care anymore. We lost him shortly after that. I sure am happy that things turned out so well for Gizmo!! Now Baby Goat, BACK AWAY FROM THE PLASTIC!! :p |
Poor baby! I'm glad he's feeling better. A few weeks ago when Cali was in with bloddy diahrea and vomiting I had never left here either and I was so scared. When I called to check on her, she was at a 24 hour er vet, they said she was alert and getting alot of attention from the staff. so I think we take it harder then them when we have to leave them. |
Gizmo is doing a lot better today. Still don't don't know if it was the plastic or not. I've been reading up and the articles talk about bloody diarreah..his was not that, it was just blood..a bunch of it. Kept trying to prepare myself for the dreaded phone call at work with the worst. My heart overflowed when I got to go pick him up and saw the nurse carry him out to me. We were soooo happy to see each other (or maybe he just wanted the hell outta there). Anyway, he has one nekid leg where the IV was, but hey, he wears it well. Gonna take him a slow leasurely bath today and maybe he will be up for a picture. Almost out of the ID the vet sent him home with, so we will be going with the Innova alone and no more Ceasar..usually he got both. Just a couple of drops of this new Iams gravy I bought makes him chomp it up. Guess there will be no more questions in our house of what to do with the tax return, huh? He's woth every penny. :D Gotta go, he's discovered an empty tp roll  |
I am so happy to read that Gizmo is home with you now. Bless your heart, this must have been just so scary for you to worry so much. Now you can rest knowing he is in your arms again. Schatzie and Ransom send sweet Yorkie hugs to Gizmo and you. :aimeeyork " Welcome Home Gizmo " |
I am so glad he is feeling better - you know they are feeling better when they can get into stuff -tp roll! :D Good luck and I hope he continues to improve and I am sure he does wear his naked leg well! :D By the way LOVE the goat boy nick name!! I can just see him chewing on a tin can!! :eyetearss |

Happy to hear it!! Yeah GIZMO!! You go, baby!!! Be careful with the foreign object, kiddo, and repeat after me... "I am a YORKIE"! I am NOT a Goat!!... I am a YORKIE!! I am NOT a Goat!!" OK, you got it??? Hope so, for your Mom's sake!!! :p |
We send lots of love and well wishes for gizmo keep us updated we are pulling for him |
Wow! That must have been SO scary!! I'm glad Gizmo is doing better. I hope he has a quick and comfortable recovery. |
For some reason, I missed this post until today, too. But I am so glad your "little goat" Gismo is doing better. Hugs to him (and you) and hears hoping he continues to get better. |
Well, I did my search of the house (yep, on all fours) so maybe I could see what he sees. Man, I found a lot of stuff that would look appetizing to a young strappin' lil' horned one. It amazes me how I have these bright ideas AFTER the fact, not real proud of myself but glad it is done now. |
[QUOTE=Gizmo's Mom]..And how the HELL did a 2ltr. coke lid get in the living room? :D :D :D :D I think that lid might belong to me...can I have it back? I have a 2 liter coke in the fridge with NO lid, searched high and low and still, no lid. Jolene is a little goat herself, prefers paper though. Now if I can just find that lid... :D |
