shaking little silky my new silky is shaking alot. it just started. i know this is for yorkies but silky are half yorkie so i guess any advice can help. i just got him on thursday and havnet been to the vet because we had a blizard. after he eat i give him nutracal because he eats so little. do very small dogs tend to be shaky? he under a pound. |
My Pippa used to have shaking episodes. Initially the vet thought she might be epileptic (she wasn't). It turned out she just did this when frightened. We worked out what was frightening her (mobile phone beep when battery needs charged) and stopped letting this happen. Now the only time she shakes is when she goes to the vet but thats understandable! |
How old is your silky? If you just got him, he may be adjusting to a new environment, missing his mom and litter mates. Keep us posted. |
Could she be cold? You mentioned you had a blizzard... |
Shaking can be from being nervous or excited or it can also be a sign of hypoglycemia. Is she lethargic or unsteady when she walks? Try to get her to eat something. Make some chicken and rice or get Lil caesars form the grocery store. Another thing to try is gerber baby food meat sticks. Keep giving her nutrical. |
we have an appointment for thursday for a full exam. He hasnt had a shaky episode since the one this morning but im still going to the vet. I bought him in a pet shop at a mall. And the reason i worry more is because that pet shop has had many complaints and has been changed from owners several times. I never like getting pets from petshops( my yorkies are from a private breeder i was recommeneded to) but when i saw him and played with him he won me over. He was also shipped from another pet shop because nobody wanted him b/c he was too old. He's only 5 months old. i dont understand people sometimes. They even cut his price down because they were trying so hard to get ride off him.I asked all sorts of question and got answers that he was healthy but hes not a shy dog so i dont think his shakiness is b/c he is scared. guess we wil see on thursday. and as for my Yorkie boy snitch, he 9lbs but look a liitle boney, maybe its because my eldest female yorkie snuggle is 15lbs and solid. does anyone have a yorkie that has weight but looks to thin?, All three of them are on Nutrical . and im basically hand feed snitch to make him eat. hes also very hyperactive and will forget he is eating :animal36 to go play. |
Oh well that good I am glad you are taking him to the vet. Hopefully it is nothing wrong. |
Under a pound? He is UNDER 1 pound and 5months old? Wow! That is way small! |
My little Yorkie is 6 1/2 pounds and is 6 months old. He is very slender - no fat at all. But - he has a very short puppy cut right now. I know this emphasizes his being slender. I'm sure when I let his hair grow out, he look heavier. Carol Jean |
we went to the vet today, Spiro is ok, he has an eye infection :( . He also weights 5 lbs, i look at the vet and was like he weights 5lbs, where?.lol ...I thought he was under a pound because is sooo light. and Snitch is ok he actually gain 1lb 2oz since last month. so he is gaining weight but slowly. thanks to all for your concerns. :dog: |
