Baby Has Eye Problem Help Please!!!!!!! i came home and mya had her eye closed she has had eye problems before so i just applied the eye ointment provided by the vet it didn't help and i noticed what seemed to me to be a busted blood vestile but im worried it could be cataracts she is only 4 yrs is that to young we have a appt tomorrow any suggestions for tonite thanks a ton worried mom  |
Sorry, just now saw this. Please let us know what the vet says. (If it was just the burst blood vessel, that should cause her to keep it closed...they are not painful. Perhaps it was something else irritating her and she 'pawed' at it causing the vessel to burst?) Keep us posted. :) :getwellso |
more questions about babbies eye would a ulcer look the same or similar to a busted blood vessel she is sleeping a lot (or shall i say more than usual) and has green discharge i keep cleaning it with saline, and does anyone know what cushings of the eye is i kept reading it online but couldn't really understand and what is it when the vet staines the eye?????????????? thank for anything you can offer still worried mom  |
Ulcers do not look the same as blood vessels. They will appear as small white dots or may not be visible at all. When the eye is "stained" it is done so using flourescene (sp). They look at the eye with a light that helps them see what has been stained. The florescene stains viruses that may be infecting the eye, like herpetic infections, etc. The shape of the virus stained enables them to tell what type it is, how they need to treat it, if it is contagious, etc. I would think that with greenish discharge, it is more likely an infection that an ulcer. |
thanks a ton thank you so much do you think 4yrs is to young to have any serious eye problems that can lead to blindness i will be sure to let you know what happens at the vet tomorrow thanks again :D |
Awww Poor baby ....I sure hope its not causing her much pain. Please let us know what the vet says. |
Update On The Eye me and mya went to the vet she said mya has a blood clot and put her on a eye ointment w/ steroids we have appt next week to see if its better if not we have to go to a specialist to check the pressure cause one pupil is larger than the other one my poor baby she seems to be clinging on to me alot more than usual we are laying in bed being lazy :( i hope everyone else had a better V-DAY THAN US!!!!! HAPPY V-DAY TO EVERYONE AND THEIR BABIES !!!!!!! FROM MORGAN AND MYA |
Hey...that's better that what it could have been! Of course she clings to you, she can't see as well...for now, you have to be her seeing-eye human. :p I am sure that this will clear up in no time. And don't panic about the raised pressure...it can be expected w/ a steroid drop. (Why do you think cough medicines say "don't use if you have glaucoma"...yep, steroids in cough med=increased inter-occular pressure.) You will more than likely see it decrease when 1) the problem starts to dissolve back into the eye, and 2) when she comes off the steroid. She will more than likely NOT experience any long term affect since it sounds very much like a temporary situation. Please continue to keep us updated on her progress! :) |

I found this thread late, as I am now having an eye problem with my girl, who is almost four years old. My heart goes out to you. This is just awful. I wish there was something I could do for you. Kate Take care. Lots of prayers coming your way. |
Oh my gosh...I was reading your thread and reading on to see how Mya was doing and read the post that you found her dead! I couldn't believe my eyes! I'm so sorry for you and yours. She was very young to pass away...not that it is any easier to lose an older yorkie, but it just makes more sense when they are old. My heart goes out to you, you poor thing! I just feel sick for you. Bless your heart and I'll pray for you! *HUGGGGGGG* |
I'm so sorry!!! I can't believe that. I feel so bad for you and your hubby. I know how you feel. Our first family dog, Abbey (cocker spaniel) was only a little over a year old and we came in from swimming and found her dead on our floor. She wasnt even acting sick. Come to find out she had a massive heart attack with no warning signs at all. I am so truely sorry!!! We also just lost our 9 month old lhasa apso due to greenies two weeks ago. I thought I didnt want another dog, but we found Parker and he has helped us in the greiving process. I hope you will someday be able to do the same. My heart goes out to the both of you! |
