Little One Can't Keep Anything Down! Any Advice Appreciated Hi friends, My little girl is only 4 lbs and about 18 months old. As of this morning, she can't keep anything down - food, treats, water, etc. No diarrhea but vomits about 20 minutes after anything touches her stomach. Of course I called my vet right away and they will see her in about 3 hours from now. I'm concerned about dehydration but I can't even give her water right now without it coming back up. I have no idea what could be causing this as she was completely normal last night. She did have her spay surgery a week ago, but her incision looks great (no redness or swelling, healing well), and after the first couple days she was right back to her usual cheeky self and was eating very well. I know from previous experience that Yorkies have sensitive little tummies, so I'm thinking this is likely some kind of bacterial bug and the vet will give her an antibiotic, some fluids and some anti-nausea medication. They might also want to do an xray to rule out a blockage. I can't imagine that she would have gotten into anything poisonous in our home as we are very careful to keep houseplants, medication and non-safe foods well out of reach and we keep a very clean floor. Has anyone experienced this before who can calm me down a bit? She's quite new to our family and has never really been sick before, so I'm a bit of a wreck today. I have had Yorkies in the past and I know they're prone to occasional stomach issues, so I'm trying not to panic. She's just so little that I worry about her. Thanks in advance everyone. :) |
One of my girls had a tummy thing like 2 weeks or so after a dental and we never did figure it out. They did a fecal, X-rays, blood work and nothing showed up. They gave her fluids, an intestinal antibiotic and anti nausea meds. She was starting to feel better after a few days. They also had her on a bland diet of chicken and rice. |
