Maggie has a brain tumor 😥 I'm beyond upset right now. we just heard from the vet with Maggie MRI results. It's a meningioma near her brain stem. She's is 10 years old and still healthy and perky on days when it isn't causing her to be sleepy or seemingly in pain. She had a persistent head tilt which sometimes make her stumble. Treated her for a month for suspected inner ear infection. No improvement so went to neuro. It's not surgical. She thinks it's been there a while. The neurologist is guessing 2-4 months with medical manage ( steroids I guess,) Radiation is an option we have to explore. No idea of the cost, but it looks like we could maybe get a good year for her. This vet thinks Penn Vet only does regular radiation which could be 20 treatments or more, with anasthesia each time. That many times with anasthesia frightens me, and I'm afraid it would change her personality. She would certainly learn to fear car ride. The other location of our vet does sbrt which could be much less treatments ( but more$$ I think). It is much farther ( 85 miles). She is our baby. I can't imagine having to make the decision is when to let her go. I don't know what to do about radiation or not..... I'm just in tears writing this. |
Omg Totally understand it. I went through that with a 3 yr old. Unfortunately she did not do well with chemo. You have a tough choice. One only you can make. And it sucks big time. I feel very sorry for you. If I can help just ask me. Try to find for you some ease. Bye for now |
I'm so very sorry for the news. My prayers and thoughts are with you. I'm sure you are just devastated. I feel like if you really think about it you will know what is the right choice. Sometimes having more quality days is better then quantity. I'm just so sorry. |
She had a seizure tonight for about 20 seconds. Her first ever and it was very scary. I wish I knew how she really felt and how many good days she has left.. We were going to consult about the radiation because it can be done in three sessions, but this seizure may have just taken that off the table. Yesterday was a good day, she acted pretty normal (except for her head tilt) yesterday. She was happy to go on a car ride and for a decent walk. I wish the seizure was related to her mri, but she's had anasthesia before and I didn't see much mentioned about a link anywhere. Very coincidental that it was the night after her mri though. I sent the vet an email. She has us on a rollercoaster day to day. I'm going to miss her so much. |
I am so sorry to read this. You know your dog better then anyone, you will know when to make the right choice. It's a horrible discussion to make. Holding you and Maggie close to my heart (((hugs))) |
I’m so sorry that you and Maggie are going through this. It’s always painful to lose a beloved pet, and it’s so much worse when we have to see them suffer and have to make difficult choices for them. |
I am so very sorry. Will keep you and Maggie in my thoughts and prayers. |
