Dr. Marty's Nature Bland - High ALT - HELP My dogs liver enzyme test has increased over the last few years and the stupid doctors at Banfield didn't say anything until today. 47 in 2018, 112 in 2019m 207 in 2020 - you think they would have said something. I think it is related to his food. I switched to Dr. Marty's dog food in May 2019 - might be coincidental, but something similar happened with another dog when I switched and he was eating people meat. anyone familiar with elevated ALT scores? |
ALT is a bit of a flaky enzyme. Honestly, I don't get too alarmed unless it is sky high and not coming down. Usually my vet will just repeat in a few months if a mild elevation... you could ask about denamarin or milk thystle. Did your vet suggest anything at all?? A recheck?? |
BTW the ALT in 2018 and 2019 were within normal range so there would not have been a reason to be alarmed. I have had pups with WAY higher ALT values....some have come down on their own. I have had to treat a couple with antibiotics. |
