HELP!!! Worried about my baby!!!! Last week my 11 year old Yorkie Mack was limping (his front leg). I was going to call the vet, but it stopped about an hour or two after it began. He had LP surgery on both hind legs and also tore an acl on his hind leg. When he had those injuries, he wouldn't let me touch it. Even now, 5 years post op, he hates when I touch his back legs. But this is his front leg. Its completely limp and he has zero pain with it. He will let me touch it no problem. I called the vet and I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon, but im kinda freaking out now. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? Im so worried its a nerve or something awful. |
Sorry to hear about your pup. I have never been faced with this so, I cannot offer any advise, hopefully one of our members can help you. Please keep us informed after your vet visit. Hoping it's just a sprain. |
Are you saying your pup is limping intermittently? I don’t mean to question you, but you did say the limping stopped after an hour or two, but you’re still obviously very concerned. There are dozens of reasons a dog might limp, many of them minor. I can’t think of any, though, that would cause a dog to limp but be completely non painful. Pain is the main reason a dog wouldn’t want to put weight on a paw or leg ... unless the paw or leg is completely numb, but you would probably notice other symptoms (such as stumbling around and/or falling) if there were numbness instead of pain. I hope the vet finds something minor to explain this. Let us know! |
Yes his paw went completely numb. This morning he is fine again. We go to the vet at 3pm so stay tuned...😢 |
Any update |
Update: SO we went to the vet and she said it was a soft tissue injury. He may have jumped off a piece of furniture and we didn't see him. Everything has steps to it, but sometimes he gets excited and jumps right off the couch. We aren't wondering if he did that while we were not home. So he is grounded now and has to stay in his room when we are not home. |
So glad to hear that it is nothing serious. Our little imps are always active, and have no fear...no matter how careful we are, they seem to be able to hurt themselves from time to time. |
Happy to hear it's nothing serious although trying to keep a yorkie calm is serious lol, lil monkeys. Thanks for the update |
