Hunching in Back Hi! It has been awhile since I was on this forum. My Yorkie recently had a issue with hunching his back. A couple of days ago he all of a sudden was very quiet spending more time in his crate. He has been eating and drinking. He pees and poos also. My concern is this. He acts like he may be in some pain. He yelps when no one is touching him and he is reluctant to jump up on the sofa at times. He also had some dry heaving with yellow color the night before and some vomiting the following day. He hasn't been acting as he normally does. He acts like he doesn't want to be touched at times also. My Smokie is normally a very active dog, he jumps a lot and very cheerful. Today he acts his normal self. Has anyone else experienced this in their Yorkie. I am very concerned about him at this point. Look forward to hearing from you. |
Hunching back, yelping when not being touched, I would absolutely get him to the vet even if he's ok now, something is wrong. Even if a member's dog had back hunching doesn't mean your baby has what theirs had. Vet ASAP |
Definitely signs of pain and you need to get him to the vet to be checked out. When they show signs of pain it’s best not to wait and you take them to the vet immediately. |
Huching back Thanks everyone for your responses. I knew he was in pain with the yelping. I took him to the Vet right away. In fact he was at the Vet when I posted on the forum. I left him there for most of the day for a through checkup. Turns out he had a strained back. He was given pain meds and rest. It really didn't surprise me because he is a very active little boy. He loves to run up and down stairs, jump on sofa, reclining chair, bed, etc. I have steps for him, but he still like to jump. It has been a challenge trying to keep him still. He is much better today. I posted because I was curious as to whether anyone else had experienced anything like this with their babies. Thanks again..... |
With these wee lil 5 Lbs and under babies as hard as it may be you cannot let them jump off anything as high as the sofa or bed. Now it's going to be hard to stop him since you have allowed him to be a wild child. Running up and down stairs do not impact his joints as jumping off sofas or beds do, running or zooming do not impact the joints, it's the jumping off beds and sofas. I'm happy to hear he is on pain meds but these lil monkeys bounce back fast and have to be watched, and that's your job mom. No more jumping off high things. |
My Teddy will vomit yellow bile when he has an empty stomach, or when he has had too much to eat. Usually it is the first one. If he doesn't get his meals on time (like if I oversleep an hour) or if I don't give him a couple kibble rewards late in the evening, he will vomit. He has a fast metabolism and his tummy starts producing acid when he expects a meal. |
