Holding up back leg. My dog just came in the house and is holding up his back leg. I'm thinking maybe knee. My last dog did this but her knee would pop back in and she was fine. I'm off to the vet tomorrow. Anyone have this happen? |
How old is your dog? |
Where they outside alone? Honestly if they are holding it up constantly and not putting it down means they are in pain so should go to the ER vet. Also that is the exact thing Callie did when she tore her ACL. |
My little Hugo started holing up his back right leg about 2 weeks ago. I took him to the vet and they said it's likely due to his arthritis and he may have tweaked it. They put him on gabapentin for the pain. The last few days the left leg is giving him issues. So back to vet b/c both legs are having issues so he could barely walk. They gave him gabapentin and tramedol. He has good and bad moments. He's already had luxating patella surgery in both back legs years ago. BTW, he's 15 years and 4 months old, had had cancer surgery 3 times and 20 round of radiation. Age is finally catching up to him and I hate it. |
I hope that he soon has more good days than bad again. It is so hard to live with our older little ones as they come to their final days! |
Hugo has been doing better the last couple days. He's started walking more, but still holding up his left leg here and there and not putting too much pressure on it. Vet said it's just arthritis and doesn't appear to be anything else. Going to the neurologist tomorrow just to confirm it's not a spine issue putting pressure on his back legs. Also going to start Golden Paste joint & hip supplement today. Fingers crossed. |
