Wee Fweya Needs Help Wee Fweya had her vet follow up. Good news and bad news. She went from 2.15lbs to 2.94lbs! The vet looked at her teeth and brought in the guy who's more the dentist vet, I guess. Freya has several things wrong: some retained baby teeth, some adult teeth that may be missing, and something else. I forget! They need to xray her tiny skull and see if she has adult teeth hiding or something like that. Removal of retained babies. The blood work is going to cost me 284 bucks! The actual surgery is going to be between 1, 049 and 1, 418 bucks! Including spaying at the same time, which is 395. Ouch. Lol. And the thing is, I'm on disability. I might be able to afford the blood work, probably. But the surgery... You should have seen lil Freya. I put her on the floor, and she wandered around the exam room, and made friends with the people who came in, three in total. |
A couple family members, including my sister-in-law, are saying get a second opinion before I pay out... Advice... |

Depending where you are in the US, that can sound right. Have you looked into care credit? They allow you to make interest free payments. It's up to the vets office to determine the time they give you to pay off the balance. It helped me pay for my baby's MRI, and they gave me 12 months to pay off that balance interest free. |
Agree care credit is an option and or check out the low cost clinics in your area which may help. I live in Maryland and that cost seems pretty standard for lower for this area . Geography makes a difference |
They shouldn’t have to X-ray or anything like that with baby teeth. They should be able to put her under for the spay and just pull the baby teeth. That is way more then I paid for Penny to be spayed and have baby teeth pulled and I live right outside of DC. You need to find a vet that will spay her and then pull the baby teeth. No X-rays are necessary trust me I have been through this 4 times. About missing adult teeth that happens sometimes Callie is missing a few and so is Joey. Most places have animal welfare leagues or humane society’s that will help you with the cost of spaying you should check it out or you can privet message me the county you live in and I can do some research. |

Sometimes if the vet suspects a lot of extractions they do an X-ray to,give the patient a more accurate cost expectation. |

My estimate has on it: Dental Radiographs-Comprehensive Canine, 159.75. I'm assuming that's x-rays. The surgery itself is estimated from 360 to 647, cause they don't know exactly what's going on. Her mouth is so tiny, they could only get a cursory idea from a visual examination. There may be adult teeth in the skull, ie in their starting locations before they drop. I know when I looked at one side of her mouth I saw a "molar" that was movable, assumg it's a baby molar... |

I'm not trying to argue, really! I like everyone here. I wish I had a write up from the vet explaining what was told to me. I have a general write up, but nothing specific about her teeth. |
