Poop stuck to butt I’m worried about my baby! She occasionally has issues with her stomach and sometimes she gets constipated and poop gets stuck and I have to pull it out. This has only happened maybe 4 times in several years. Yesterday it happened again. I cleaned her up and she acted fine. Well I come home from work today, and she had some poop stuck to her butt again and I noticed she had soft poop that smelled horrible on her pad. I’m worried because usually when this happens it only happens once but this is twice in a row. I don’t know if she got into something or what. She isn’t eating new foods. And she is acting fine. Has anyone experienced this? I was thinking of cooking her some rice and chicken to eat and if she’s not better in 24 hours I was going to take her to the vet. Again, she’s acting fine but it’s worrisome about her having poop stuck twice and the soft poop. |
So sorry about your little one - it's so worrisome when you're not sure what's going on. You're totally sure - no change in foods, or new treats..? The horrible smelling portion was likely her anal glands emptying - so it may be that her anal glands are getting full. I would not recommend that, off the bat, you start getting them manually expelled by a groomer or vet. It's wayyyy better to try to let her body do this naturally, if/when needed. What are you feeding for her regular kibble or food...? If I were you, that's what I'd be switching and evaluating before doing anything else. |
I would even be checking that the recipe for the food that she regularly eats hasn't been changed. Check if you perhaps got an old bag of food and it expired before she finished eating it. I'm a fiend about food storage and won't put fresh food into a container with even a crumb of old food remaining in the bottom of it. |
